KEYSTROKES NONPAYMENT - X-KS

Anyone else have difficulty getting the money owed them by KS after they left the company? I even provided them with my documentation of production and now no one will return my calls/emails.

I've been with KS for 2-1/2 years and no issues. I sure hope when it's time to go I don't have this problem... why did you leave? GL getting your $$$.

Turns out the check was in the mail today.

I left because I couldn't make any money on the acct I was assigned to and my TL told me she couldn't do anything about it for 90 days. Unfortunately, I couldn't survive for 90 days on what I was making. I enjoyed the company tho.

Oh good, I'm glad the check was in the mail! It's such a shame they couldn't change you to another account. I have no idea how many accounts they have but the one I type for is backlogged about 5 days - yep we're nearing 7000 dictation minutes of backlog on just this one account. It's kind of annoying to come in to work and there's no dent. I think they've lost quite a few MTs over the last couple of months.

Unfortunately, I believed the hype - so much work, a lot of money to be made...money to be made for KS maybe, not for MTs and people wonder why some of us are bitter and fed up.

Maybe for you but not everyone. I have always made good money with radiology with KS. sm - RadMT

Maybe "some of you are bitter and fed up" but the many, many radiology MT's I know from KS are happy and do make good money. I have tried rad other places, and KS is definitely the best out there. Don't say wait and see either because I have been there a long while.

I have also heard that acute care is very busy and also getting new accounts this month, so maybe you need to talk to someone about more work.

I don't know how long some of the KSers have been there, but one of the accounts they wanted to pay $1.00 a report when I checked. Sorry, but that is just too little, working for peanuts. Been a rad MT for 13 years and I got paid a $1.00 a report 10 years ago. Good luck to those that can make ends meet on that.

I am now down to .85/report - cut in pay to go do a new account which I knew not

If you are at 85 cents per report, you are doing Powerscribe editing, which is definitely better (IMO) than old-fashioned transcription for radiology.

They are nearing catching up with old dictations, so we will see that backlog number dwindling from here on out. At least we get to choose who and what we type when we do OT. That's a nice incentive.

Enjoy it while you can once it is caught up it will - be a different story

I am lead over 2 accounts and never get to type on the 2nd one because the first is very busy. There are normal ups and downs in transcription no matter where you are, although everyone seems to have forgotten about that, but the accounts I am on stay busy pretty much all year.

I know there are some new accounts too, and the coordinator told me that they need to hire over 80 people over the next month for the new accounts and because other accounts are so busy.

Before you say it, I am not a suit and no, it is not because people have left in droves as it was stated in past posts. I am a TL and have only had one person quit in the last few months, and my account needs at least 5 more MT's.

I don't see that going away. There have been dry spells, but mostly enough work with enough overtime to spice the paycheck.

A suspension list is sent out to doctors to threaten them to dictate old charts. - Nothing to do with firing anyone.

Most hospitals do these either monthly or quarterly. The hospital I worked at did not do them for a long time and did 3 years' worth of records at once. We had to hire temps to come in and help for over 2 months.

I have a signed contact with a company as of 3/15/2011 according to the contact payment for services is to be made within 5 business day of receipt of the invoices. I have done work for them, I have submitted my invoices to them for payment. and QA dings me for one. Unbelievable. That's what it averages for 1400 lines a day full-time. Even with 3 cups of coffee and an office chair seat belt, it's no easy feat. Ninety-thousand keystrokes PER DAY. That's not including the ADT, the Internet look-ups, etc. Throw me a bone here, QA. How many keystrokes to you do, PERFECTLY?? ...

How is it? The trainer says it is one of the easiest platforms to learn on if you've never done it. Said the threshold is set high at like 85% (not sure what that means) and it proves to be very lucrative for some. Anyone have any experience with it they could share?
