Is there ANYONE happy with SS that has been there a year or more? - Wondering

Posted: Oct 25, 2012

There is so much negative about this company, but I know there is no such thing as a perfect company for anyone and there are the "honeymoon" periods of newbies to a company, so wondered if anyone has been there a year or more and stayed and still likes it.

Left after 2 years - mythoughs

Thought sure things were going to get better after they restructured, got worse. Love the job I have now, work morning hours, flexible if I need, true IC position. No weekends. I haven't gotten an email all week....YEAH !!

Love ortho so applied even though I read so much negative. - Wondering

I mean, I know every company has good and bad, so I wondered if there were any good at all since I heard so little positive from those that have done this a while. Love to know who you work for. Working for a big company now and pretty stressed and I have been doing this a long time.

If u r looking - mythoughts

If you are looking to reduce your stress, SS is not the place for you to go. You will be either stressed out because there is no work, or you will be stressed out because there is more work on some teams than they can do and you will constantly receive emails requesting to work extra, to make up any time, to work on the weekend. Then the emails will come making you feel guilty because you were one of the ones that did not email and give specific times you will work extra. Then come the Ohhh thank you to the ones that jumped in and helped. But, I do wish you good luck, they pay pretty good and they always pay on time.

not that i know of - and they are losing

more good ones as we speak because they don't know how to manage. so sad. oh well. they reap what they sow.

pretty bad - anon

I made it a year b/c I was offered a sign-on bonus that was $1000 and payable after a year. wanted to leave at 8 months or so but figured I would hang in there for the bonus. they refused to pay it and after calling HR for 2 months to see where it was, got fired for gross misconduct. got unemployment and now happily working back in the real world with actual people and a paycheck I can count on. oh yeah, and when the only thing good you can say about a company is that "they pay on time," how bad is that. they should pay on time. that's how real companies do it in the real world. cheech

I probably would have stayed if I had gotten the schedule change I wanted, was there 2 years and had a communication gap with them.

Happy New Year?
Dec 31, 2009

Just now got notification (New Years Eve) that there will be a new service area South right after the first of the year (figures, right?)  I know this happened to the North region about a month ago.  We will have a new DQS log-in and have to move our expansions over.  Can anyone from the North let me know what this means?  Will we still be doing our regular book of business?  Is it time to look for another job?  ...

Happy New Year - You've Been Laid Off
Jan 04, 2012

What's an IC to do?  As much as the company bragged about being in the local paper a month ago, they claim to have lost a huge account and have to let go all those working on it.  Not eligible for unemployment, 4 kids at home from 5 to 20, a mortgage . . . thank goodness I'm on Cymbalta!  I need to find another job - ASAP.  Can anyone out there recommend a company that offers employee status, where I won't have to work 1 weekend day????  My resume is prett ...

HAPPY NEW YEAR FELLOW TRANSCRIPTIONISTS!
Dec 31, 2012

I just wanted to wish all of us good health, and a happy and prosporus New Year in 2013! I think we all could use a break from worrying, working too much or too little and see a future in medical transcription without our jobs being ripped out from under us through outsourcing or smaller pay. I know it's wishful thinking, but Happy New Year to all of you. MT2 ...

Happy Transcriptions Is Still Happy
Aug 19, 2013

Who in their right mind names a company "Happy Transcriptions?" In this day and age, all I see is "sad" MTs and, in my opinion, if "Happy Transcriptions" is still happy, they can only be messing even more with us poor "sad" MTs. All I can say is I am so "happy" I am so close to being on my way out of MT! ...

New Year, New Me!
Jan 19, 2011

I am checking out my community college catalogue and getting excited at so many interesting courses.  I'm not looking for a long, drawn out process or degree, just some subjects that will be fun, creative and could also translate into making me more marketable.   As an MT, I lean more toward writing, computer, and maybe even something medical, as opposed to something like car mechanics or accounting.  Any ideas?     ...

With The New Year Need To Think About
Jan 01, 2013

I spent the morning reflecting and trying to figure out what to do and where this profession/company is heading.  In doing web searches found that MModal is opening up yet another center in Mysore, India and hoping to employee 500 employees.  I guess I am trying to figure out if it is indeed cheaper to employee Indians than US based employees after all the perks the Indians get like healthcare for the whole family including parents until they are 80, gym, free transportation, the cost ...

Just One More Year (hopefully)
Aug 17, 2013

My daughter will be driving and I can leave transcription/editing !   I just hope there is enough work to last that year.  I love working at home.  I've worked with some mean office women before who are backstabbing and downright evil, but at least I had security in my paycheck and paying my bills.  This job has been great as far as being home with my daughter when she gets out of school and being home when she is sick, but now she is older and when she starts drivi ...

Here's To The New Year -- More BS
Dec 30, 2013

Besides issues with a company that seems to have workflow problems and therefore tells the independent contractors to not work on their scheduled days because the work is low or on another day is sending e-mails that there is extra work and everyone needs to hustle , there is now a notice that there will be an adjustment in line rates.  Of note, this company does not pay the highest line rates to start with. They want a schedule and we're expected to be available AND must produce a min ...

Do You Any MTs Making $50,000 Or More Per Year?
Nov 11, 2009

Does anyone know personally of any MT who makes $50,000 a year or more?  A college recruiter called me at home one night and asked what I did for a living and when I told her I did not make that kind of money she said "I was told most MTs make around $50,000 a year.  Only in my dreams.  LOL.  ...

Been Here Half A Year
Aug 18, 2011

Ive never not given a notice, but I interviewed today and might get the job. You all know the deal, I just can't afford to work here and they want to fill the position Im trying for immediately.  Do you think after only 6 months, I have to give them a notice?  If so, how much of one?  It feels so wrong to just up and quit, but I can't pay my bills!  Another 2 weeks, or even one just puts me further in the whole.  I made more on unemployment! ...

Another Year Of Benchmark
Sep 19, 2011

Medquist is very close to signing up for yet another year of Benchmark.  So very few people use it and the corporate people are trying to find out why.  Seriously.  I wonder if they will listen this year when we tell them that we don't want it, don't use it and it is a colossal waste of money.  I already let my CCM know why I will never sign up for AHDI, I mean Benchmark.  Some of us old timers have a bad taste in our mouth over the lawsuit settlement and ...
