I read your transcription of the lay off call. I am so sorry you were all treated so heartlessly. Even if your manager was also laid off, someone, ANYONE above that should have made those phone calls to EVERYONE involved. I don't care how long it takes. I remember my call from my manager at the other "big'un" and felt as bad for her for having to call me, and I know it wasn't fun for her either, but it at least had a bit of humanness to it. Don't get me wrong, it stung and I was crushed, but someone at least reached out. GAWW. My heart aches for you all.
