not "stiff and formal." It is a long process - that interview, an interview with HR, background check, reference check, etc. It is certainly not the perfect place to work, but the pay is decent for an employee position nowadays and the benefits are affordable. They have some quirky rules about abbreviations, excessive verbiage, etc., but if you can look at it as just a job, something to pay bills and provide insurance, and not something that feeds your soul and makes you happy or whatever, you will do fine.
