It gets us all to some degree. I have a number of reasons which all add up to compelling to remain to be exploited this last decade, but I'm not proud of myself for it, even if I do still take pride in my work and responsibility for it.
Seriously, I've never bought one (yet), but I'd suggest getting a good motivational book to help you figure out why you should care.
You may imagine everything will be different after you retire, but you're still going to be you, life's still going to be less than perfect, and you may need to equip yourself to meet it better than it sounds like you're ending this stage of your life.
