s/l "shark tooth deformity" - Polly

Doc is doing an exam of patient's shoulder and says patient has a shark tooth deformity. It really sounds like "shark tooth," but I'm wondering if this should be Charcot, though in researching it sounds like Charcot affects the lower limbs, not the shoulders. Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Could be Charcot-Marie Tooth disease which can affect the - orthogirl

But maybe he thinks I'm psychic and should know what he means. I really think he said "shark tooth" in terms of what the deformity looked like on an x-ray because he referred to a "larger shark tooth deformity" in another part of the shoulder. Thanks for your help, though. I hate this doc and pray that he gets another job at a different hospital. I know that's hopeless as no one would want him.

There is a Chiari malformation known as a shark tooth deformity. The deformity itself is in the brainstem, but it can produce other physiologic and anatomic changes.

The doc may be commenting on anatomic sequelae in a patient with known shark tooth deformity.

Depending on the full context, you might want to investigate this possibility.

Charcot ... Syringomyelia (shoulder)this seems to be a joint disorder so check under Charcot joints, yes this does affect the shoulder
