Neck? Exam
Jun 03, 2010

I am in the physical exam neck portion, but this statement could belong to another part following the neck exam, I just cannot get close enough on the word.  Thank you!! NECK: Jugular vein pressure and carotids normal. Patient does have a bilateral s/l ath-ro-SIT-a-lus. CARDIOVASCULAR:  Apex beat not displaced. Heart sounds normal. So the s/l word may be long to the cardiac exam that follows. ...

A Box Under A Bridge?
Jun 09, 2014

Is it really coming down to living in a box under a bridge with this job skill?  I'm certainly headed that way.  Am I alone?  I don't know how any MT who is single can make it at 4 cpl.  How is this company able to get away with paying such low wages while demanding 99% perfection, and a 200 lines per hour? With no pension and no possibility of retirement hopelessness is my middle name. ...

This Is The Bridge I Cross
Apr 12, 2013

I could go into a lot of woes about MT work.  We all know how the industry is going.  I am in my 50s, and frankly I am just biding/doing my time.  My back is bad, my legs won't hold up for standing or walking too long, this computer has all but done my eyesight in.   ;) That being said, I do have to give the positives.  I made very good money for nearly 14 years.  I cand dress up or down,  work in my night gown, undies or whatever I deem appropr ...

ASR, The Proverbial Brooklyn Bridge For Sale
Jul 16, 2010

Whoever sold the medical transcription industry on what a timesaving, streamlining, cost saving state-of-the art boon to the profession ASR would become is the scammingest grifter I ever heard of.  oops.  It is saving costs by decimating transcriptionists' pay.  I wonder how many years they have left to make  payments on the Brooklyn Bridge. ...

Anterior/Interior??

Common Errors
Apr 12, 2012

PLEASE NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!  This is truly meant to be helpful, not snotty, threatening, or negative so I expect the same in return. Military time:  Lately I have seen a lot of reports where people are inserting colons in military time.  Colons are NOT used for military time unless the hour, minute, AND seconds are given.  If the CP states that time is transcribed "3:00 a.m." this is for "regular" time and not military time. Spacing:  TWO spaces after periods that end ...

DUH! COMMON SENSE TIP OF THE TIP
Jan 08, 2015

During your search for work, if you see a "transcription company" seeking one of us for immediate work due to falling desperaetly behind on contracts, check some of the MT forums. If MT's are trashing said "transcription company" and you see a lengthy, detailed defensive response from said "transcription company"; think......maybe the reason the said "transcription company" is behind on their contracts is because they are not utilizing someone, who has the time and ability to reply at great ...

Venting - Common Sense
Feb 24, 2011

I swear, these so-called intelligent doctors have no common sense at all.  Let's see how much noise we can have in the backgroun and talk as fast as we possibly can to see if the transcriptionist can get my dictaion right. This guy talks so fast I don't even know how he can get the words clearly out of his mouth, then he must have called someone on speaker phone because I can hear the phone ringing and ringing and ringing, and then his pager goes off which of course he pulls close ...
