Kernig sign

when a subject is supine and the thigh is flexed to a right angle with the axis of the trunk, complete extension of the leg on the thigh is impossible; present in various forms of meningitis.

Brudzinski sign

1. in meningitis, on passive flexion of the leg on one side, a similar movement occurs in the opposite leg. Syn: contralateral reflex, contralateral sign.
2. in meningitis, involuntary flexion of the knees and hips following flexion of the neck while supine. Syn: neck sign.

I am in the physical exam neck portion, but this statement could belong to another part following the neck exam, I just cannot get close enough on the word. Thank you!! OK..... It's an orthopedic chart note. Patient has a chief complaint of hip pain. Dictated: He has a negative [s/l fair, fairs, varus?] sign, a negative fabere sign. It doesn't sound like fadir; I'm not hearing that "d." I already had to leave two medication blanks and hate to leave another one for an orthopedic sign that I feel like I should know! Thank you in advance for your help and ideas! ...

Hi, The doctor is talking about a patient with a neck swelling and he says the following: "She had an MRI that showed what appeared to be a lymph node that was 2-cm in CRANIOCOLUMN and about 1-cm in AP dimension."
