What is your typical daily average lph for VR? sm - QTpie
Posted: Dec 27, 2011
Please post what your typical lph is for VR and how long you have been working.
I'm at 175 lph and I seem to be stuck there. I have been working 9 months.

On a good day, I can do anywhere between 300-400. That is if I am focused and I am going at it one report after the other AND I have good dictators. Sometimes I am just not into it, and I will do about 3 or 4 reports, get up, come back and start working again. But my norm is usually about 250 or so. I do only clinics if that makes a difference.
375 to 500, varies according to doctor nm - justme

Today ranged from 290-475, according to dictator. You must have some hard dictators.

There doesn't seem to be a standard answer to this question.
All of my jobs have been on the EditScript platform.
At one job, I could reach as high as 500 lph on dictators that were clear and well known by a well-trained system. Unfortunately, the company lost that account due to the hospital client purchasing a point-and-click system.
At the job I have now, I have not yet reached 150 lph. When the job was offered to me, and they named a very low minimum line count, I thought it would be so easy. I asked them why the required hourly line count was so low and they really didn't answer my question. In retrospect, I am 100% sure that they knew the answer, but were skirting the issue. It turns out that the account is so full of horrible dictators (some ESL, but most not), that I don't know that I'll ever reach the minimum, which is well under 200 lph for VR. The other thing is that I am required to work how ever many hours it takes to reach the daily required line count for the number of hours I'm supposed to work and then claim only my scheduled total of hours on my timesheet. I think this is totally illegal and I'm on the verge of quitting yet another major MTSO.
I submitted an application yesterday to work in the dietary department of my local hospital. It would pay more than I'm making now.
Alice: The timesheet issue happens at many - companies. I think it is SM

illegal too, but obviously they have found a loophole for this. I think it is done so they don't have to pay minimum wage to MTs. I work well over 40 hours a week and I am only PT. Because I am not a speed demon and VR takes so much time with quite a few of the dictators, I can only put in hours which equate to about 200 lph. If it takes me 5 hours instead of 4 to make 800 lines, I can only put 4 on my timesheet (this is just an example) so don't diss me for the low lines. It really only matters because of the Dept. of Labor IMO.
My scheduled day/shift to work and NJA. Finding I am unable to make up these hours later in the week. It's not a wonderful life at all. Can't sleep at night wondering where the money for bills, etc., will come from, wondering who is next for termination.
I am looking for another job but no luck so far. Will be getting even harder in my area as a MAJOR employer is laying of over 1000 workers. It's getting worse out here.

Hello all,
I am just wondering if all of you can tell me what you feel is pretty 'typical' for a line count per day. I FINALLY got a job today and they are paying me per line as an IC, which is fine, but I want to make sure I keep up with what they expect. I am sure I will be slow at first, so I want to have some idea of where I am at.
Thanks!! ...
OOW--my TMS quit--no new TSM yet. I liked her--sorry she left. I have 3 accounts and not ONE job this morning--so why do I have to work Saturday mornings againg??? I am sooooo glad I supplement my income by watching children in my home. That is the only way I can survive.
I also have so many other things I could be doing this morning--but no, I sit and wait for work...

My department will soon be outsourced so I'm looking for a job. I've been paid hourly for 13 years so wondered if anyone could tell me an average pay on a cpl basis for both straight transcription and VR. Thanks. ...
So what is the average top pay most places pay after years of employment? I've been with the same company for many years and get 9 cpl and 1/2 that for SR. I've only been with the one company so really don't know what goes on most other places. I'm very unhappy though and want to change companies but can't go down a lot to start. ...
full-time MT type in one day? I have always had P/T MT jobs, but I think some days I'm getting full-time workloads, 1500+ lines. Just curious. Thanks ...
Hi, I would like to know if any of you regular MModal employees truly get to the point of being able to do 20 accounts and make both the lph and QA requirements?
Not looking for the negative flaming.
I personally am really struggling. I just don't know how one can read specs from 2-3 new accounts in an hour with all the peculiarities and still meet above said requirements.
I want it to work. I don't really want a new job. But I feel like we are be ...
Am considering applying with Nuance. Have worked with the M*Modal speech engine before and know that Escription is superior but how much better is what I wonder. Would you be willing to give me an honest estimate of your average productivity in LPH when editing? I don't need inflated numbers just something to go by that reflects a reasonable expectation. Also, what is the minimum LPH required by Nuance when editing?
Thanks in advace. ...
Does anyone know what the AVERAGE transcriptionst makes per hour? Most are paid per line now, but I am just wondering what people are earning per hour. I am a transcriptionst working for an orthopedist. I have 15+ years experience and have been working with this company for a few years now. I am currently being paid 13.90 per hour. I am an independent contractor, so no benefits, PTO, 401K, etc. For some reason I just feel like I am being paid very low consider ...
I currently work for a clinic system who, it seems, is trying to usher us out the door so I've been looking at online companies. It seems plenty pay by the line but I have NO clue how many lines per hour I can even do because the only number my place of employment gives us is average minutes per hour for an entire month (our bare minimum is 12 min/hr). So I am curious to know what sort of average lines per hour you ladies can do? We really cannot afford for me to take a hu ...
Can anyone tell me what their average line count is per day? (just the total not separated between work type). Im not trying to be nosey and I don't know who any of you are personally, I'm just trying to get an idea where I stand compared to everyone else here. I have been at Medquist for many years and seen many changes. Over the years, my line count has gone up and my pay has gone down. I am trying to determine if the reason is mostly me or mostly medquist changes and if th ...
Just curious as I have never been paid by the line, how much does getting paid 7, 8, 9, 10 cents a line average out to be. I realize it all depends on how fast you are but say on average??? What do most companies pay? Thanks! ...
I'm re-applying to MQ as I desperately need a job. My question is, are you all able to make at least $10.00 per hour still?? I ask because in searching around, it looks like $10.00 is the best I'm going to be able to do. I do radiology so I will probably end up doing a lot of editing which I have never done before, so I'm just curious to see if $10.00 is realistic doing both straight typing and/or editing? Any info appreciated. Such a shame that its c ...
