MQ voice recognition learning bad habits! - Old part-timer

Recently, I haven't been seeing errors like a temperature of 98 VII for 98.7, but just this morning, I've had two reports with an "I examination" rather than eye examination! I mean, c'mon. Where is it learning this stuff?

I guess VR is Indian, too. lol - NM

The stupidity in VR lies right here in good old America, with corporations like MQ who do not understand VR as well as they can sell it.

I know this won't be popular, but I find Indian resentment thing really tiresome. They speak quite good
English in India.

But WHY would a VR program that has been inserting "eye exam" suddenly switch to "I exam"??? Either someone has been changing "eye" to "I" or the VR computers have suddenly developed self-awareness.

The idea that one VR system could be trained to understand a large and everchanging population of dictators is just plain dumb.

might not be popular, but you are right. It is commendable how well the Indian people know the English language - due to English occupation for so many years. Plus the level of education is higher in Indian MTs - many of them have Bachelor's degrees. If we moved to India, we could make a very good living, as their cost of living is so much more affordable.

The VR mix up or whatever you want to call it, has nothing to do with India or any of the other statements made regarding this subject; it is the company's fault, no matter who does it. Again, MQ doesn't care about it's MTs, nor does CBAY, wherever you are working from. They want the money and it is all bottom line. Again, if we continue to work for these types of companies, this is what we have to contend with. I don't like it, I hate it, and I quit MQ and will not work for another company that uses voice. Now I am working, but believe me it isn't easy, but it a gajillion times better than what I had with MQ or any of the other companies out there, that are just using us and then they are going to discard us down the line.

So does that mean that there is like 1 huge DQS "brain computer" or something because I don't work for the Q but do work on DQS and have the same VR errors you guys seem to be having, plus that crappy spellchecker, which I never trust!

I was wondering, is anybody making any money at all on voice? I keep hearing just minimum or maybe a little more. I call minimum wage 7.50 to 8.00 an hour. My experience with it was at one point I was told that I hadn't made enough for minimum and they had to do make-up pay. So how is everybody's experience with voice? I'm infuriated that the quota to keep benefits is the same as it was before voice recognition. I'm KILLING myself to try to keep up to maintain health insurance and just can't do it. With 96% plus voice recognition reports and half pay from straight typing, I'm losing health care benefits. SO UNFAIR!!! ...

Have to learn VR soon. What if a report comes to you and there were no corrections to be made, does MT still get paid for the lines on the report or do you only get paid for straight typing and then if report has errors you just get paid for those corrections. Never done VR before and for some reason they make it sound so easy. ...

Does anyone know if the voice recognition part of EPIC is like eScription? During the short period of time I had to use eScription, we were not allowed to recast sentences, etc. I honestly don't know how we are going to handle the ESLs when we move to that platform. I was talking to a physician assistant today and she said when she was working in a hospital, she couldn't believe what kind of reports came out when doctors were dictating on voice recognition without having transcriptionists type them up afterwards. Is anyone having problems with their eyesight because of VR? I am a 20-year MT and find that my eyesight is fading fast and am having difficulty with my eyes watering and burning, unable to focus, after a few hours of work with VR.
