expanding instatext word entries - sapient

Posted: Dec 19, 2009

With instatex, there are phrase entries on the left and word entries which show up on the right side. To expand the phrase entries you just hit the space bar after the short entry, but how do you make the word entries expand? And how do you choose the second on the list, or the third, ect. I cannot figure this stupid thing out, even after going through the help menu.

Thank you to anyone that can explain this!!

On the top toolbar in Instant Text:
1. Choose "Options"
2. Then choose "Usage"
3. Then choose "Markers"

This will get you to the screen where you can customize the markers that you use to expand your words and phrases.

I can't remember what the default settings (factory settings) are because I customized mine long ago. I have my words set to expand when I hit either the left or right bracket key (i.e. either the "[" key or the "]" key. I chose these because they're easiest for me, but you can look in the list and choose anything else you want...the colon, semicolon, curly brackets, slashes...whatever works out easiest for you. There's a long list for you to choose from and you can even choose more than one, it doesn't limit you to choosing just one of them.

Then, whenever you're typing and you hit that "marker key" that you chose, Instant Text will expand the corresponding word or phrase.

To get the second or third entry in the list, just hit the corresponding number, i.e. 2 for the second, 3 for the third, etc., and then hit your "marker key."

I have never 'opened' my InstaText open completely. I use it with Cerner, so I just always have the little thingy at the bottom. I almost cried when I couldn't find a tool bar or an options tab, but then I hit "expand" to pull it big and there they were! My one is currently set at / (which is why I would randomly expand things I didn't want!). I am so excited. This is going to help SO much!! Thank you!

Word 2007 Autocorrect Issue - Entries Disappears
Sep 14, 2013

I'm asking this for a friend. Her computer crashed a couple weeks ago, so she got a new computer with Windows 7. She is still using Word 2007. She has entered new autocorrect entries as she works and most of them are retained. However, when she enters an autocorrect entry for a standard template she has, like a SOAP note, the entry will be gone the next day when she comes back to work. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated? For those of you that are going to ...

Oct 06, 2012

Good morning everyone, In DQS 6, I could "rpe" and have it return "</PHYSICAL EXAMINATION/>" in red in the report. Not happening with 7.1.  I have tried every combo I can think of to bring an expansion into a job and have it format like it did previously but am having no luck.  I have tried copying a heading from a standard into Instatext but it will not come back into the job formated correctly. Anyone found a work around for this?  I'm finding the ctl+h very time c ...

AutoCorrect Not Expanding After Periods. Help!
May 07, 2013

I started using AutoCorrect for my expanders. The problem is when I use them followed by a period they won't work. So "t" doesn't turn into "the" just "t." They work after any other punctuation or a space. I've scoured the internet and Microsoft forums and I can't find a thing. I've tried turning off the auto-caps and that doesn't work. Help? ...

How To Copy PC Shorthand Entries Over To ExpandType On Chartnet
Feb 16, 2014

I recently started working for a company that uses Chartnet.  I like the platform.  However, I have over 5,000 entries that I've painstakingly created on the PC Shorthand expander program, and they are causing problems when I'm on Chartnet.  What happens is, when I type a shortcut from PC Shorthand, it will cause Chartnet to switch to "overwrite" mode and replace whatever text is already there.  It types right over the text, and I don't want it to do that.  ...
