I want to drop to PT so I can find a different job. I'd love to flat out quit but I can't take the chance.
But my question is, when you drop to PT, do you have to tell your CCM why or do you just inform her? I really don't have a problem telling her I can't live on these poverty wages, but let's just say she isn't my favorite person, but I know she will be nosey and ask WHY? Am I obliged to tell her?
And how do you drop to PT? I ...
and I've been doing this for over 20 years! Used to make $18 per hour doing the same thing for the same company. Going back to school and getting the heck out of this business. ...
I put my heart and soul into this job, a job I used to get paid $20-plus an hour for, and my most recent pay check was only $297 for two weeks' work, part-time. Up until now I was getting a whopping $304 per pay period. Never mind trying to understand the pay stub explanations. Even the base pay is less than my state's minimum wage, which is puny at that. Yet they have the gall to complain over an ADT omission or a minor text error. I swear ...
Does anyone have an article that I think was posted here awhile ago about CBay's plans for cutting US MTs? It might have been an Indian article. Somehow the numbers 10,000 then down to 3,000 seem familiar, but I'd appreciate a link if anyone knows where to find this info. Thanks. ...
I can start looking for another job. Well, since you have to give 30 days' notice, I can't start PT until Dec 20, but whatever. My CCM didn't really seem to like it. Calling me up, "just want to know if there's a problem, so why are you going PT....are you looking for another job?" So many questions. I wish I hadn't answered the phone. Um, DUH, it's because I don't feel stable in this job. Tired of worrying if I w ...
mandatory OT. I'm too tired and burnt out, and my hands hurt too bad. It's having the opposite effect of what they're intending... I guess if whoever is making the mandatory OT decision knew anything about business, though, they'd know that too much OT for too long is counter-productive. ...
Anybody out there with SoftScript being bumped down to P/T for line count? Have been with them 11 months and have run out of work every single pay period with 7 different accounts. Nobody EVER, EVER answers any emails. Have never even heard from my PM. I get over 99.75% on every single audit, yet miss the count by 1 or 200 hundred and I lose even more money? Curious if it is just being done because of the new insurance laws. Putting everybody down to PT so they don& ...
i prefer VR over transcribing and would love to find a company in need of my services. I have over 15+ years experience and I am one of the oddballs who does enjoy it. Of course, as an IC I prefer to work my hours and days as long as I get their requirement met for TAT, which is no problem. ...
I am going to be getting a new computer soon (yay!) and was just wondering what everyone's favorite computer is for doing transcription on. I am looking at a Toshiba, but I have heard they have bad speakers. Opinions please! ...
I'm looking at everything from old IBM clackers to Kinesis to Logitech to those funky as all get-out flat rubber keyboards a poster below mentioned.
Input anyone as to why a certain keyboard is your fave? ...
Hi all,
I'd like to know your favorite MT software that you've worked with before. What were the pros and cons of it? We are looking to update our system from the old school mini-tapes that our MTs have to come in and get to something that'll allow them to stay at home and receive the dictations.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you, dear doctor, for deciding that your account has to be 100% accurate, that the 98% industry standard is "lazy" and "impossible." I love that you decided there should be no numerals or ordinals in a medical report, that all numbers must be spelled out except the date. I appreciate how your secretary will fax in 4 pages to complain about one isolated, non-critical error while also calling the OM repeatedly about the same error. I enjoy that this leads to the OM calling ...
I have done the tutorials and been doing ASR for years and didn't know about the alt-K to break and capitalize. Maybe this old dog could learn one or more new tricks. Teach me everybody!! What are the best hot keys that really work? ...
As if we don't have enough BS to wade through and crap emails to read before trying to get a little money from them, I read an email that says "Here is a list of the previous MTIs that were renamed today." Really? Like that matters. If I am going to spend my own time reading the emails that seem more like a trap on how they can keep from giving my my bonus, I would rather read a specific instruction....not that someone got paid to change the name of the instruction. ...
I know this subject has been gone over before, but I need your opinion. I have spent the last week evaluating the line counting/invoicing programs out there, which I might add are few and far between. I really don't like any of them! LOL!
Could some of you share with me your experiences? I appreciate the input! ...
No conscience, this LG, hired to slash, and slash she is good at! l shudder to recount all the I.D. numbers I've seen come and go from her matrices. If you were just switched to one of her accounts, beware, there is only one reason for that! She is on the AB (COM) team last I knew. ...
I've work on an account that 80% of the doctors dictate many abbreviations/acronyms that I have never heard of (I've been transcribing for 16 years). Some of them are very hard to find. Googling gives sites for acronyms, but mostly that is not helpful. A lot of them are not found in the Stedman's Abbreviations book or that particular field book.
I spend an incredible amount of time trying to find these. Can you link me to your favorte site to fi ...
I am sorry to say that my old ones work better for me. I think they would be ok, but I get a lot of (what I think is) cellphone audio, and they just don't work as well for that. I have tried switching back and forth while working to test them, and then I always end up using my old ones. I like the way they feel though. It was worth a try. ...
I am coming back home to work again and now need to buy a headset. Any recommendations out there? I don't want to spend a fortune on one. Thank you! ...
Just got a new stereo headset and it is telling me to go thru several settings to configure the set with the computer. I am terribly non-computer savy and I would hate to mess something up doing this. How easy is this to do and could I cause the computer to go kplunk? Thanks. ...
Could someone suggest a headset for me? I have been using the Glimmer headset for years and it is just about shot, not getting stereo sound much anymore. Therefore, I am searching for a new set, one that has clear sound. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. ...
I did a search and couldn't really find what I was looking for.
I need to buy a new headset. Does anyone use or know of a headset that really brings up the "volume." I got one from Transcription Gear a few years ago but it really didn't do what I thought it would. At the moment I have my set and computer up as far as they will go and it will be easier if I could somehow get it louder.
Thanks for your help. ...
Hi,
I'm taking classes right now to be an MT, and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a really good brand of headphones or headsets? Particularly, are there any out there that can boost sound quality?
Thanks! ...
Does anyone have a suggestion for a headset with volume control that actually works? I like the in-ear kind, as the ear-muff ones are too hot in summer. Also need a cord long enough to go from my head to computer that's under my desk. ...
