Favorite keyboard, anyone? - Looking2Buy

Posted: Feb 22, 2011

I'm looking at everything from old IBM clackers to Kinesis to Logitech to those funky as all get-out flat rubber keyboards a poster below mentioned.

Input anyone as to why a certain keyboard is your fave?

microsoft soft curve - painful hands

[ In Reply To ..]
The regular keyboards give me really painful hands, arms, shoulders, neck, etc. The big curved egonomic keyboards, I have just never been able to get into the groove and use them efficiently but the microsoft soft curve took a little adjustment but now would never use anything else!

Ill check into that one but - Looking2Buy

I'm still hoping that someone posts about those rubber flexible ones LOL! I just can't comprehend quite how those work and I'd like to have a "hands on" opinion of what they're like.

I'm going to google image the MS soft curve and see how it looks...Thanks so much for the tip!

Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach

The curve is just gentle enough that there was really no adjustment to be made to get used to it, but it puts my wrists in an absolutely neutral position--and then I've got a beanbag wrist rest that conforms to any shape, which puts my wrists into neutral in the up-and-down plane.

Best of all... this keyboard is really cheap. I'm hard on keyboards, and this is my second one.

Where did you get yours? - Zville MT

Staples, Office Depot, or somewhere online?

Think I got one at Office Depot, and another online. - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach

Wow Ebay has a ton of these and they are cheap (found one for $17.19, not bad at all). I have a ginormous Microsoft ergo keyboard, but it's not this "comfort curve" or "gentle curve." It's a big monster with about a 3 inch wrist rest built onto it and the angle is anything but gentle or smooth, LOL! I may give this one a try at that price.

Thanks again!

I've gotten brand-new ones for under $20 - CrankyOldBroadOnTheBeach

Which I feel a lot better about than buying used, unless what the e-bay vendors are offering ARE new. I think I got the first one at Office Depot, which meant I could take it right back if I didn't like it, and after I killed that one, I got the second one online, maybe from Dell, but I did some comparison-shopping and grabbed the cheapest one.

The beanbag wrist rest came from Office Depot as well, and it's a lifesaver. It was pretty cheap too; don't remember the price, but it wasn't a lot.

Used to have a Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard - it was fabulous! After eight years of pounding by me, it gave up the ghost. I looked around for a new one, but couldn't find one and I haven't been able to find a keyboard that I like as much since then.

I'm ordering one tonight - I can't believe the price on it! The Logitech keyboard I've been using is junk, but it was all I could afford when I needed a new one.

Thanks again! You made my day ;)

Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro...need A New Keyboard, Any Recommendations?
Apr 03, 2010

Microsoft has discontinued these great keyboards and I need a new one.  Anybody aware of a split keyboard that has a really nice touch (remember those old IBM keyboards?) for transcription work by Microsoft or another brand that you really like? I'm open for suggestions please ; 0  My only complaint with this one is the keys are a bit clunky to press down (especially the space bar).  Thanks! ...

VR Favorite

i prefer VR over transcribing and would love to find a company in need of my services.  I have over 15+ years experience and I am one of the oddballs who does enjoy it.  Of course, as an IC I prefer to work my hours and days as long as I get their requirement met for TAT, which is no problem. ...

Hi all, I'd like to know your favorite MT software that you've worked with before.  What were the pros and cons of it?  We are looking to update our system from the old school mini-tapes that our MTs have to come in and get to something that'll allow them to stay at home and receive the dictations.  Any and all help is greatly appreciated. A Not-so-sincere Thanks To My Favorite Dictator
Aug 18, 2010

Thank you, dear doctor, for deciding that your account has to be 100% accurate, that the 98% industry standard is "lazy" and "impossible."  I love that you decided there should be no numerals or ordinals in a medical report, that all numbers must be spelled out except the date.  I appreciate how your secretary will fax in 4 pages to complain about one isolated, non-critical error while also calling the OM repeatedly about the same error.  I enjoy that this leads to the OM calling ...

Your Favorite Waste Of Time Email?

Need New Keyboard
Sep 13, 2014

Hello all, I am in need of a new keyboard.  I am using a Goldtouch now but the keyboard configuration does not really work for me, specifically the cntl, alt, and windows keys, as well as the home key.  I hit the wrong keys frequently, too much, and it hurts my production.  I do like the "touch" of it though.  I would like something that feels the same, a little bit spongy but not sticky.  Any suggestions.  TIA. ...

Keyboard
Jun 25, 2015

Hello, I am using a Microsoft split keyboard that is just about worn out and would like to know what most of you are using now. After using a split keyboard I do not think I could go back to a regular keyboard. Also, I keep the keyboard slanted to the left slightly which is more comfortable for me, probably because I am left-handed, but it does make to getting to some of the keys on my right hand a little difficult. Anyhow, just curious to see what most of you are using now. Thanks. ...
