need to buy a headset - MT

I am coming back home to work again and now need to buy a headset. Any recommendations out there? I don't want to spend a fortune on one. Thank you!

Model SH-50. Not sure who makes it, but I get it from Executive Communications. Very reasonable prices, and they also bundle things if you need other things.

I like them because they are light-weight, good sound quality, and both ears work at all times until the thing tanks out, which is usually only when I stand up and pull it wrong!

The Spectra headset with Volume Control upped my productivity by about 5% on all platforms--amazing what you can do when you can actually HEAR.

This is a stereo headset that comes with USB plug or the standard PC plug. I like the volume control on the cord rather than messing with Windows volume control. I got rid of my speakers on my desk and just plugged the thing into the back of the computer (much less desk clutter, which I like). In fact, this headset has made such a difference that I've always got an extra one on hand.

They cost about $30-35 apiece and well worth it. Just Google "spectra headset" and click on shopping--voila! There will be one to suit your computer hardware.

I totally disliked the Spectra, everything sounded - muffled and I had a ton of errors

Depends on what you are plugging it into. For my DVI I found buying two good 20 dollars or more ear buds, plus a splitter. You plug it into the DVI and then plug each differentear bud (two different colors preferably), and use only the two different colors one for each ear. tie the other two off so you don't confuse them if you want. the quality is so much better and you get stereo.

I have been using this one for years: FlexFone FLX-10 PC Headset. It's about $30 and I always order two at a time, although they last a very long time. I love the volume control on the cord. I also use a Boostaroo for those extremely hard to hear dictators.

I actually can't stand things IN my ears, and have never found a headset I like. I use a pair of Bose around-ear headphones - I got them at Target for I think about $149 on sale ($179 right now apparently - see link below). They are very light, super comfortable, last FOREVER, and the sound is awesome. I am easily distracted if I hear things around me, so having the around ear headphone helps block a lot of that out. They also have a breakaway cord (which is handy when you catch them on the corner of your desk or turn too fast or whatever).

More money, but you'll have them for years and the comfort/sound are worth every penny (at least to me they are!).

Simply the best. Lets me hear what even nonhearing impaired do. They last forever and come in a package with 3 settings and a long cord as well for either computer, USB, or regular 3esion of an unknown character. Simply the best I have ever had.

I did a search and couldn't really find what I was looking for. I need to buy a new headset. Does anyone use or know of a headset that really brings up the "volume." I got one from Transcription Gear a few years ago but it really didn't do what I thought it would. I'm looking to purchase a new headset for transcription. I had a Philips SHM-7500 and it lasted for 6 years. It's no longer being sold other than on E-bay from Korea ;) I have heard good things about both the Logitech h540 and the Spectra USB Transcription Headset, two totally different styles. Hi, one side of my headphones quit working. Any ideas? - It is the same way no matter what I listen to so not the fault of transcription software. thx for any ideas. Sounds stupid, but I can't remember what they are now ... but I think Transcription Gear (sounds right). I want to get an aluminum stethoscope headset because I used to use one onsite at the cancer center I worked for and absolutely loved it. I do have a question though. What type of plug-in would I need? I want to plug it into my speaker and I now use the Emdat Inscribe platform. Anyone know of a reasonably priced headset with microphone (not wireless) that has the big ear pads that fit over the whole ear not just on the ear. I'm talking an ear pad about 2-1/2 x 3 inches.
