Convert DVF files so can play with Wav pedal - CC

I am having trouble converting a DVF file so that I can play with my Wav pedal. My computer will download to a HTML file. Neither file can I open with the Wav. I have installed Express Scribe and still no luck opening the file. Any ideas. Thanks to all.

I don't see settings on my ES. Is there another name?

Up where File, Control, etc., are located should be Settings. - SM

Click on settings, then on the Files tab. Scroll down and check dvf so ES will recognize that file type.

I do not see a settings tab on ES. I have an option tab, but nothing that will allow me to change the file type.

I just download this week, so hopefully it is the latest. Do I need the Sony Windows media plug in. I would like to continue to use my Wav pedal like I am used to and maybe just convert the files to MP3 which will play there. Any conversion program you know about. Thank you for your help.

On the latest ES version, find it under - go to Nuance

Options, File Types, then you chose between 2 codecs, either RAW or VOX.

Since I don't know the details of either choice, I downloaded the Sony patch. DVF was originally propritary to Sony. The private doctor I work for has an older Sony recorder and upload program, so it was easiest for me to just get the Sony fix.

I am posting the link to Sony's DVF converter. After you download, reboot, and you should not have to change RAW or VOX settings in Express Scribe.

I found a tab on the Wav pedal that will allow me to play the DVF files, so I can stay with the Wav pedal that I am used to, rather than the Express Scribe program. Also needed to do file association in the computer. I was lucky to have a friend who is better with computers than I am. Thank you for your help.

The Wav pedal came with software. It seems to be a universal and will play many types of files, you just have to link them up to play. No conversion download. It plays, Dss, MP3 and now DVF. I added DVF to the Wav software and had to do a link under the folders of the control panel. I have had the pedal for 6 years and it works great.

You need to download a converter program - go to Nuance

convert DVF file

once you DL the converter, your files should convert from DVF to WAV. I think I got my converter on the Sony site.

I am upgrading to a new computer finally with Windows 7 and IE9. I was thrilled when everything was loading up fine-but the new version of Express Scribe will NOT play DSS files! I have a USB-1 pedal, but this new free version they have insists on us buying their $70 pedal OR their Pro version of Express scribe for $30 (on sale). I am furious! I am typing ds2 files and am using the above player which the olympus representative said was created to play ds2 files. however, I have tried taken the file from the place it was sent to me and it seemed to import into Folder A. But the file never could be seen in Folder A or the transcriptionist Tray. I did this many many many times with the same result. I have voice files sent to me that I cannot play in Windows Media or Express Scribe. They will load in ES but show 00:00 duration. I thought possibly it was an encryption error as they possibly they are coming that way to be because they are secure but I sent to a friend and she can open them and play them. Sorry, my math really sucks and I can't seem to find a site that will 'convert' decimals to regular numbers. If a patient's lab test reads as 23.0 and the doctor dictates it as 23,000 are these both correct ways of putting it? Also had absolute segment coung of 17.48 that was dictated as 17, 480 and bands of 0.23 that were dictated as 230. My company was acquired by Nuance a few months back and so far the only thing that has changed has been e-mail addresses. Paystubs even still reflect our original company name. I can load it into the dock, but it says there are 0 minutes of dictation. If I play it on Windows Media, it says I need a codec. I don't know what that is.
