Medict -- DocQscribe play voice file - new hire

Hi,

Anyone work for Medict in Florida. I will be on DocQScribe accounts. Do you like it. Any pros/cons. Anyone know on the DocQScribe system if you can start and stop the voice file by a keystroke. No footpedal available at the moment so transcribing by keystroke to stop and play voice file.

Well, not sure I'm clear, DQS doesn't have accounts, but it is a nice software, in my opinion. Yes, there are keystrokes for the voice, which escape me right now. When you get into the software, hit F1 and it will give you the commands for all sorts of things.

I understand. I just didn't understand the DQS "accounts" so I was clarifying that DQS is just a software that some companies use. Not sure if she was confused or not, so just clarifying for her.

New Hire, welcome to Medict, hope you like it. Been with Medict for a few years.

The only con for me is the lower pay. It will help if you have something else on the side.

The cons are that the owner is very, very nice, a hands on owner, and the workload has been picking up lately. I hardly ever run out of work anymore. Just me, but I would rather work for a little lower pay and have work there than to get paid higher and have no jobs available during my shift.

As far as your footpedal, I looked up in the DQS manual for keyboard shortcuts, and it says to PLAY/STOP use Ctrl+Space.

Does anyone know how to convert wma file to DSS file? I am using Express Scribe but, for some unknown reason, the sound quality is very poor. One of those MTtest sites. Called their help desk and they said a lot of people have trouble, not to worry and try this. I tried that. Nothing. They said to call back and they would work it out. I don't know if this is worth it. The testing portions were fine, went quickly but just trying to get the transcription part up is time consuming and frustrating. I currently use GearPlayer, and with one of my clients this is required for downloading voice files and uploading completed documents, therefore cannot get rid of it. GearPlayer is fine for my other accounts as those voice files come via email and FTP and I save them to my system and they open and play on GP just fine. I agreed to do some work in coverage for someone and the doctor sent files directly. He uses an Olympus recorder that uploads on AS-4000 Pro Player platform. Once uploaded, it sends each voice file out by encrypted email. I was wondering, is anybody making any money at all on voice? I keep hearing just minimum or maybe a little more. I call minimum wage 7.50 to 8.00 an hour. My experience with it was at one point I was told that I hadn't made enough for minimum and they had to do make-up pay. So how is everybody's experience with voice? I am upgrading to a new computer finally with Windows 7 and IE9. I was thrilled when everything was loading up fine-but the new version of Express Scribe will NOT play DSS files! I have a USB-1 pedal, but this new free version they have insists on us buying their $70 pedal OR their Pro version of Express scribe for $30 (on sale). I am furious!
