"take good care of our patients" BARF - ss

Posted: Mar 04, 2015

Have a good TSM, so I shouldn't complain too much.  But getting sick and tired of comments about taking care of our patients, thanking us for quality care of patients, etc.  I know she realizes we are all concerned about our paychecks right now as much as anything else.  Not that we don't give a darn about quality, but we are after all working to try to make a living.  Corporate is just shoving this quality crap down our throats every chance they get.  I am sure she has been told to do the same.  About the time the new compensation plan came out this has become a constant thing.

We have ALWAYS done our best to make sure the record is accurate and assists in quality patient care.  Just quit trying to shove this propoganda on us, give us the facts, no details about vacations, etc. and let us do our jobs.

yeah, like how do they get so much vacation anyway - mine is on her about 6th wk in less than a yr

but I can only manage a day here or there, try to attach it with a holiday. Its all used up for OOW.

Because they're management - sm

See below for what Nuance did for 4th Quarter 2012. - it is very involved - but - at the top of page two they state they expect revenue from Healthcare to be 1 BILLION in 2013 - Then on page 3 in the Question/Answer section Paul Ricci Chief Exe Officer states: " It has been and continues to be our strategy to diminish the amount of labor contribution even as we have acquired some firms with large labor populations.  Our goal over time is to get greater leverage out of that labor contr ...

Can Anyone Suggest A Good MTSO With Acute Care Work?
Dec 16, 2011

Over 28 years experience, about 26 years of acute care.  Now doing clinic work, which is kiling me financially! The reason I'm in clinic work is because I was a Spheris employee and former MQ, but did not want to go back to MQ when they bought Spheris.  I am now doing mainly VR clinic work and obviously, it's killing my paycheck. I am quite sure even VR acute care would be better, but I would prefer straight transcription or majority of it transcription. I would work evening ...

Patients Have No Idea...
Apr 18, 2012

Last night I was taken out to dinner by my now full-time employer, his wife, and few other folks who joined us (yes, Imagine that, I actually enjoy spending time with them and they treat employees great.)  Someone asked me about my former 10-year career as an MT.... I told them how much I loved the actual job, and then told them what a MESS ASR and EPIC make of a patient's record if it is unedited.  I recounted some of the "funny" mistakes (only funny in the fact that AS ...

Are Doctors Really Seeing More Patients Because Of EMR??
Oct 31, 2014

Too broke to see a doctor in several years I finally saw one today and got to witness the "benefits" of EMR.  The new patient documents were scanned into the doctor's laptop.  The software was not able to translate handwriting, so all that was a waste. Basically the doctor had to go over every question and missed many that did not scan.  The only hands-on he did was to look in ears & throat.  Everything else he was glued to the laptop trying to type in everything I s ...

Vent: Not Caring For Patients
Nov 20, 2010

Dictators (MDs, PAs, RNPs, etc.) who dictate so fast and so sloppily cannot possibly care about the welfare of their patients.  If they did, they would want a clear and accurate record with no room for misunderstanding or errors. Doing the paperwork is part of the job.  If you don't want to do it with reasonable clarity, then perhaps you just shouldn't be practicing at all. If I ever meet any of these in person I will tell them flat out how horrible they are and what a terr ...

Another Sad Option For Medical Care Is Charity Care. Work With The People
Nov 06, 2014

...bills. Most Saint hospitals and others actually operate as non-profits, and for what they are screwing us over in taxes unpaid, they can afford to help out folks with their bills and still give their CEOs generous stock options and obscene salaries! But, you have to ask for this after your visit, treatment, x-ray, or ER visit. ASK for help if you need it. It is not our fault that suits are in charge of medical care in this country.  ...

2014 - Not A Good Year For This MT — But I Found A Good Fit (finally)
Jan 12, 2015

Rarely do I start discussion on mtstars - however, 2014 was a particularly challenging year for myself - an experienced MT/Editor (15+ years). However, I realize that many other MTs may be in the same position, i.e., having many years devoted to working at the Big MTSOs including “the M,” and “the N” and (now to be included) “the T” following close behind in total numbers of MT/Editors on staff. (Hint: Sure most of you know the M, the N and the T - and the names have been int ...

Good Friday; Good Bye Spheris
Apr 02, 2010

Well Good Friday to me.  I left Spheris.  It is indeed the best Friday for me in a very long time.  I've had it with their lousy platform, Mafia QA (they try their best to kill your spirit), mandatory this, mandatory that, do this, don't do that, change this, don't change that; no, don't change this, don't change that, and on and on and on, and now their bankruptcy.  No PTO for the next 4 months to keep the clients satisfied during ...

They Don't Care
Aug 16, 2011

How many times do you have to be hit on the head before you realize that THEY DON'T CARE.  MQ is on its own path.  You can write all the letters you want, contact the president, congresspeople, newspapers, TV, etc.  MQ DOES NOT CARE.  You could drop dead in front of their executive offices and they would just step over you.  THEY DON'T CARE!  The only thing that will ever turn this around is if hospitals refuse to accept off-shore work but considering the ...

MDs Don't Care, So Why Should We?
Sep 02, 2011

There you are, sittin at your desk, slammin your head into yet another mumbled dictation, desperately trying to divine the meaning of the muttering, frantically googling, stedman's open on your lap, cursing all foreign doctors everywhere, and then you get it! After ten minutes of listening intently, tilting your head to one side, pressing the headphones tighter, slowing down the incoherent ramblings, you finally figured it out. Feel proud afterwards right? Well, maybe you shouldn't. ...

Q-Care Help, Please

Can someone help  me, please? I thought I was organized, but realize I can't get into Q-care. Is that somethiing I was supposed to set up separately? I've tried everything and it says "error." I Just Don't Care Any More
Aug 07, 2014

FIESA and its humiliating and debasing scores, micromanagment, a bitchy supervisor, crap dictators, have all contributed to my feeling of just not caring any more.  I clock in, do my time, and clock out.  I know that my work is good and that my QA is much higher than FIASCO says it is, but I just don't care anymore. Do You Care About Incentive
Mar 11, 2010

I work in-house doing radiology transcription, mostly VR.  The pay is hourly and there is no overtime on our job but there is also no incentive.  I'm trying to cut my expenses to have extra money but its tough.  I would like to work an extra few hours to save for vacation/a better running car/other purchases.
