offering a whopping 5 bucks an hour if you do overtime - Really??

Posted: Jun 03, 2013

They are offering a whopping 5 bucks an hour if you do overtime. Just another slap in the face.

I don't do overtime. Not worth it. - mt2

Besides, after finding out the TLs get a bonus for TAT, they can do the work.

Overtime? - LoveMT

The very first time I had OT with Nuance, it was just after my company was acquired or bought out or whatever "happy" little word they're calling it now, and I honestly thought there had been a mistake in my paycheck. I actually called HR and inquired as to why my OT pay was so dang low. I was told it went according to some chart, yada yada yada yada.... Actually had the nerve to send me the chart and instructions on how to figure OT, which I have never looked at.

I had stayed over my shift hours on a particular night in order to do a whole boatload of stats that came through all at once. I wasn't asked to do it. I just did it because I knew there was no one else scheduled during that particular time and those stats would just sit there until 6 a.m. when someone did come on. I did it without being asked and was slapped with a measly $25 for my 5 hours of overtime in the middle of the night.

The person from HR casually told me that I had already "earned" my "time" with the lines I had put in during those 5 hours and the "OT" pay was the "1/2" of the time and a half. I actually said, "Are you kidding me?!! Why the hell would anyone want to stay and work midnight hours for a measly 5 bucks an hour?!!" I said this out loud not really meaning to (I do that sometimes, lol), and she said, "Because you have good work ethic." REALLY??? My reply to that was, "I'll never do it again, I can promise you that! Good work ethic or not!" and I hung up.

OT pay is ridiculous and the way they compute it is even more ridiculous. I'd like to see one of them stay overtime for 5 dollars an hour.

4 cpl editing; however, 99.5% will be Voice Recognition I was told. Then she went on to say you guys average anywhere from 287 to 300 LPH with Voice Wreck. When she got into the part about they pay for up to 2 consecutive spaces, and if you send more than 5% to QA, I sort of zoned out. Told her I will give her my decision once I think about it over the weekend. Not. Whew it was depressing just listening to all of their demands. ...

TO THOSE MAKING THE BUCKS
Nov 12, 2009

To those making 50+ K a year: I'm glad to know that in this industry it is still possible to make a decent living! I LOVE transcription!  I've been an at-home MT for about 5 years and see the potential, but seem to get easily distracted being at home and get restless and can't sit still.  What is it that you are doing to stay focused on your work?  Is it really about working weekends and second, third shifts?  Please share! I'm stuck at around 25K, when ...

MT Schools Promising Big Bucks
Feb 25, 2012

First, don't get me wrong; I'm not trying to be negative about this in any way and wish any new MT success. However, with this profession dying like it is and even very experienced MTs just trying to eke out even $10 an hour . . . It really aggravates me all of these MT schools and courses trying to suck innocent people in with their high tuition costs, etc. The fact is that nowadays it is akin to going and paying x amount of money to go work for $10 or less an hour. These schools/c ...

VBC Job Offering
May 12, 2015

Definitely agree wtih poster on job board about no VBC, offering 7 cpl without spaces is absurd.  I love op reports and am local to the job posted but once I saw it ws 7 cpl VBC I was definitely not interested.  That would be equal to maybe 5.25 cpl with spaces, take out taxes and you are down to about 3.5 maybe, what else can they take? ...

No jobs out here and what does one do as they are offering us 3 cpl but then you know they want the weekend coverage and the 2nd shift because those are the worst.  Oh, but you can get a 1/2 a penny more?  What is a half of a penny?  Maybe in another country, but surely not here where it is hard to live on minimum wage.  Then supply your own equipment.  Augh.  Plus look at their test?  I'd be a nurse then...and be more respected and can save a life.  ...

Average Per Hour With 0.75 Or 0.375 Versus $12.00 Per Hour
Mar 31, 2014

My transcription job was always paid by the hour. I was laid off and they recently offered me a temp position with them making $12.00 an hour.  I was also offered a positon that pays 7.5 and 3.5 cpl.  The $12.00 is employee status for a small local company I worked for over 9 years.  The other is an IC position.  Do you think I would make more with the $12.00 an hour or the per line production rate?  I have never done production by line work so I'm not sur ...
