Is there a way to know if you are going to get a bonus next week? - new but old

I got one last quarter which was a huge shock and I believe if I get one this time, it will probably be the last one I ever see as FIESA is now deducting for everything - semicolon instead of colon - mom not being capitalized - an S not at the end of a word - things that really in no way change the meaning of the sentence but enough to bring my percentage down as low as they have ever been in 15 years of transcribing. I am trying to ignore, but it gets more difficult every day.

I know, right? Great idea pitting MTs against - QA for bonuses, Nuance.

What next, the tiger pit? Must be fun, all you guys rubbing your hands with glee about taking away crappy bonuses from equally crappy salaries. This is just the pits, the worst thing they have ever done. Why not just take the bonuses away from everyone and have tiers when you have proved a certain degree of experience and expertise, which can be taken away if you mess up too much. Oh, no, much more fun to watch us girls fight it out, right? Horrible, horrible practices and evil incentives.

This bull crap has made my decision for me. I am going to go ahead and take early retirement and possibly supplement my income with some little part time gig at WalMart or something. I am 63 and healthy, but will probably develop an ulcer and mental instability if I keep working at Nuance much longer.

I would recommend retiring early. I retired two weeks ago, lose $200 for early retirement penalty a month but supplement my income by working at a grocery store. No more working two jobs and 65 hours a week. Still work 25 hours a week. Just be careful. Until the end of the year if you make more than 1260 per month, they will take the whole next month's social security check. After the first of the year you can make up to 15,000 a year with no penalty until you reach the $15,000. I make more money with ss and working part time as I did with MModal and another job at the grocery store. Good luck. Even though I am still working 5-6 hours per day 4-5 days a week I am loving this. No more stress and no more working for slave wages.

It is my understanding that even if you are only say $50 over the limit, they hold the whole next benefit payment! This is for the first year only where you can only earn $1260 a month. The limits change each year.

After the first year, the $1 for every $2 earned rule kicks in.
I took early retirement from N at 62 and work part-time. Love it. Read the Social Security site. All is explained there. I cannot make over $1260 a month this year, but next year I only have to worry about the yearly limit.

When "mom" is used in place of a proper name, then it's to be capitalized.

Her mom is a wonderful person.

At the end of the case, Sarah and John are doing fine.

These aren't just BOS rules; they're basic grammar rules that have been around for decades.

No one's proper name is Mom and no one's proper name is Baby. I would recast those sentences to read, "I told my mom that I did not want to go to the store," and "At the end of the case, the mom and the baby are doing fine."

Just because you don't like the rules and the facts, doesn't give you license to change them and do whatever you want simply because it's your opinion.

If the client says it's okay to recast, fine; but that's not always an option.

"Mom" might not be an actual given name to anyone, but it most certainly can be a proper noun (which is capitalized). When you address your mother, do you say "Mom" or do you say "my mom?"

It does not give me the right to change the rules but I do have a right to my opinion and there was no need for you to go into attack mode. The sentence "Hey mom, come here," is not the sentence we were discussing; of course I would never say that. My mother's first name is not Mom, and I have never known a baby with the first name of Baby. The account that I work on permits recasting of sentences, and we do not write mom as a proper name.

Thank you for my Q2 bonus, the first ever for me. However, I really could have used the money during the last 3 months. If divided up over those 3 months, I would not have had to borrow money for food. Please reconsider this punitive bonus plan you have. The money would be better served in my paychecks. We used to get the monthly production bonus as a separate check on the 25th. I didn't get a separate check for this although I should have qualified. Paltry as it is, every little bit helps. I do see an "incentive bonus" on my regular paystub, but I'm not sure if this is from some past incentive I have since forgotten about or if they are now just putting the regular monthly bonus on one statement along with our regular pay. Have you found that it's getting less and less for the VERY SAME AMOUNT OF LINES? I got a smaller bonus (piddly as it is) this month for MORE lines than I produced a few months ago and got a larger bonus for. Our accounts are so backed up due to yesterday's system fiasco (over 3500 minutes on backlogs) that CCM just sent out an email that we are getting $10 extra per hour for hours over our scheduled shift. TransTech in TX is offering a $500 sign on bonus for experienced oncology MTs & MEs. Perhaps the tables are turning. I'm already working as one, but am not the least bit happy with the account as the reports are only a few seconds long and the busy work between each one takes longer than the transcription - thus you are not paid for half the work you do.
