First, let me say I have 30 years experience as a MT, but this is my first experience with editing. That said, I hate editing except it does give my arms a break. I can maintain 99% QA and low QC score. What I can't do is a zillion lines per hours. I used to make well over $40,000/year before internet came into this field and then the editing. This year I'll be luckly to make over $2?,000 which just sucks.
The incentive plan is just plain stupid. It should be simple and easy to obtain. Keeping PRODUCTIVE AND HAPPY MTS should be the point. I simply go for lines. I do the report correctly and move on. I do research, except I did quit googling Dr So-So at Whatever Hospital. Too time consuming and not paid enough for it. I research all drugs and medical words allowing 2 to 4 minutes. Then I leave a blank. I don't give a rat's behind about their incentive pay. It's a carrot they're hanging in front of you all to make you work harder and longer for THEM. Screw them.
I have 6 months left being a MT and then I'm moving on to another line of work. This has become too stressful with how much crap is required for such low pay. I dread each day I have to work. I'm making myself miserable and everyone around me. That's not a life - that's me turning into a huge B*(&%H.
