HIPAA - new but old

I failed to cc a physician they said so I got a 3.0 deduction on a dictation. First one I have ever got. I haven't got an email or anything yet. I just saw it on one of my corrections. I haven't gotten anything from FIESA yet.

Was it marked as a HIPAA violation? I might agree if it went to the wrong person (3.0 is still kind of harsh), but wouldn't your case be an omission? Maybe someone here can shed some light on this.

edited to add: I just noticed you said you pended it for blanks. They will correct those the same as any other report, same kinds of deductions, but if it's a QC report, the only thing you have to worry about is not going above 15% submissions with those, not how bad the deductions are. Sometimes I send "FYI" kinds of disputes about those so QA/QC will become aware of a discrepancy between the Client Specs and their erroneous correction, e.g., and hopefully not dock me on a regular Post Audit report for the same thing later. But usually I just think "meh" to any corrections on non-Post Audit/QC reports and go on my way.

That's what I thought Thanks guys I could see if I sent it to the wrong person but I honestly did not hear them request a cc. The only thing I can think of is if maybe at the very end and I didn't catch it. It didn't go to the client or anything either. I am on DSP but I had pended it for more than 2 blanks. This didn't come from FIESA. The acct I am on any that get pended when I go to log in to transcribe it will show any that I have pended and what corrections were made etc and also my percentage accuracy. When I go into the new FIESA 2.0 and go under correction nothing happens, no reports come up at all. I never had a problem with the old FIESA and looking at my errors but since this new one ruled out I was able to access on my other accts that I type on but this one I have never been able to access anything on FIESA so I don't have a clue. I haven't received an email from my TL or anything.

You might want to contact someone in Tech Support about this (I guess). You might also try another browser if you have more than one installed (I have Chrome and Firefox and IE, just in case). I mostly use Chrome, and I use AdBlock Plus there, which I had to disable for the new Fiesa (which also takes a stupidly long time to even load ... great "improvement"). But it's still iffy, and sometimes I have to log out and log back in just to get the darned windows to pop up for Correction Report or especially if I go from Correction Report to some other function.

edit: Oh, and to reiterate, obviously, NOT sending a cc can't be a HIPAA violation, just sending it to the wrong person.

it's not going to count towards your Post Audit score, so won't affect bonus or employment eligibility. I got a 75% on a report I submitted for blanks the other day (included deductions for areas I didn't bother blanking), and I couldn't really give a fig. Once you get to see it in Fiesa, double-check if it says QC1 or Post Audit in the top right corner.

Thanks guys - you have all made me feel a whole lot better. Yeah I have Firefox, chrome and Internet Explorer and I could only access the new FIESA through IE before and I can still ACCESS it and when I click submit on the correction review or whatever it says nothing comes up whereas before there would normally be a couple but I was still having to use the old FIESA but now when I hit submit nothing happens at all. I then got locked out because I had quit looking at since I went on this new acct and the feedback was coming back a completely different way - then got an email last week saying that if we had any kind of major error that it was mandatory that we go into FIESA 2.0 and make sure we look at it and initial it so they knew we saw it but that I would receive an email first telling me to do so (which I haven't got yet) so I thought I better check and make sure I could get in there. They sent me a new password and I can access it but like I said nothing comes up.

Give Tech Support a holler, they're usually pretty helpful. - sm

Oh, I double-checked, and even the QC reports below 98% (I think it is?) have to be "Reviewed/xx" initialed too, so you are going to have to get in there somehow to the Fiesa feedback, even if you don't have to worry about it affecting your Post Audit score. I got the e-mails at first, but nothing for a couple of recent major errors.

I am trying to get a grasp on understanding HIPAA. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can find "easy-to-understand" HIPAA rules? I have a doct that I type his documents in Word and print them to letterhead for him and then hand-deliver them myself to his office. Is this breaking HIPAA rules? First of all....isn't any medical report being typed out of our country by a another country that isn't required to follow HIPAA regulations.....well a HIPAA violation? From what I am hearing, if you have an XP computer, you are not HIPAA compliant. It violates regulatory requirements. Then why is MM not supplying us with Windows 7? My XP computer they gave me was freezing up, so they sent me another XP. I asked them why they didn't send me Windows 7 and they said XP was cheaper. I get why they do these webinar things, but honestly, the person narrating sounds like she herself is bored. I try to follow it, take notes, but know deep down that when I do the test very little of it will have been absorbed, so am resigned to taking the test any number of times. Couldn't we just leave a note on any report with a cc to "please verify physician name for copy" which would then take the burden off of our shoulders? Not a QA marker, but by doing Ctrl + Shift + Q. If we do not check our screen where patient name, info, attending, date of birth, blah blah blah is not correct or we did not check to make sure the dictator name is correct or attending name in the screen, of did not fill in attending or dictator for, this will have to be notified to HIPAA. I am reading far too many cases of MTs being fired/threatened for copying the wrong doctor on a report. While this constitutes an error, it does not (NOT) constitute a HIPAA breach. What a joke. They come down on us so hard about this, but there is information on ADT we have no reason to see such as SS numbers. I have a couple of dictators who actually dictate the patient's SS number and say to put it on the report. Not to mention the wrong patient information and cc names given by the dictators.
