Calling me on my day off to do OT - sickened

First, let me say, I do like my TSM, she is great and I know she is only doing as she is instructed, but where do these people get the nerve to call me on my day off and think I will stop what I'm doing and help them? The audacity is mind boggling. Cut our pay, put most of us in financial ruin, expect more and more for less and less pay and then you want ME to help YOU? If it wasn't so pathetic, it would almost be funny. How stupid or maybe greedy do you have to be to realize that your constant frantic emails begging for help aren't working? If you want my help, you better make it worth my while, not what you have reduced overtime pay to, which actually used to be lucrative and worth doing.

[ In Reply To ..]I've never been an employee but as an IC for 15 years, I've always had received phone calls, even after working a 12-hour day, my phone will ring a few hours later. I even had a phone call on Christmas Day once. I check my caller ID and then I don't answer. I work a lot of hours, so when I'm not working, it means just that.

They used to call me all the time on my days off. Are you kidding me, you think I'm going to sit for another 12 hours so I can add more nothing to my minimum wage. I never answered the phone either, never did anything extra to help them. They must think us pretty naive. It certainly is an effrontery to our intelligence.

I was emailed personally on the first of my days off because someone called in sick, but you know I thought, "I've given enough of myself freely to help out on more than one occasion and now I can't even get an answer to my ONE simple email sent 3 different times in 1 week." So, I politely said NO. Don't care that I need the money at this point. EVERY single time my days off roll around, they are begging for help incessantly around the clock on BOTH days. Wow! And there will be at least 2 or 3 weekdays where I'm short hours because I'm OOW before my shift ends.
I'm guessing that "offshore vendor" doesn't work on the days that I'm off (Sundays/Mondays) because the backlog seems to start growing on Friday nights and continue all the way through until Monday night.
I think if some kind of incentive were offered, ANY KIND OF INCENTIVE, to help us earn a little more to work on our days off, then I wouldn't have a problem doing it, especially since it would make up for the lost lines and lost hours from previous days of the week. We all know THAT will never happen!

I don't know where to begin with trying to record a macro for this need myself. If anything..they are simply a Sales Convention for MTSOs and only have their interest at heart. There are never topics that relate to working as an MT or being properly represented. Instead we get the never ending changing BOS, or the CMT certification which AGAIN has changed...and btw..took a look a "sample" test and it has NOTHING to do with being an MT! It was more for a clinician. We are language specialists..not clinicians. I have been an MT for over 20 ...
