Bogus QA corrections? - Not My Work

Three or four times in the last two days I have gotten one of those unfriendly FIESA MAJOR ERROR alerts . . . only, that's not my work. I know without a single doubt that I did not make those errors, and seemingly some of these so called 'errors,' would have been flagged by spellcheck. What's up with that? Offering rebuttal in their comment section is pointless, it's just a waste of time since no one really reviews those or sends any feedback. I'm just frustrated that these bogus errors that I never made are bringing my QA score down. Just wondering . . . is anyone else have a similar problem?

No its not spell checked. its an error alert. But I never heard of FIESA major error alert. You only put the number of reports you typed, how can they know its a major alert? I know we could not fix anything if we made a mistake, we had to email the payroll department and tell them what the mistake was and only they could correct it. FIESA is just another way to stress us out.

I look at the jobs - and yes, I did the jobs - but I agree with you. The errors that are showing as "major errors" I know I would not have made. I would have had to be asleep, or gotten up and walked away from the computer with the audio running to have missed one. The 2nd I received was for leaving in 3 words that did NOT change the meaning of the sentence.

However - I noticed on mine - they were done by offshore QAs - were yours? I think that's a problem - they do not always understand things or hear things that we do - and I don't think offshore should be QAing onshore workers.

I have had OK dealings with QA, but I have had an error charged to me from 1/30 for an account I have never even worked on. I emailed my TSM about it 3 times, and she has never responded to me. She will reply to me about everything else, but not this. I don't even know where to go from here. :(

Unfortunately, that is all you can do. They know that eventually we all give up when they don't answer our E-mails, at least most of us do because we don't have time for it. Very frustrating.

Before I worked MT for Nuance, I did QA. Their QA system (at least about 2 years ago) was so screwed up, I could have typed something and blamed the MT for the mistake. I brought this up with my supervisor because I was very concerned about the program and it's lacking. I was told they can tell by audits who does what and who typed what, but I wasn't convinced then and I'm still not. Whether some one is messing up your work on purpose, I don't know. I can only tell you that 2 years ago in EditScript QA, it was very possible. I can't say what they've changed now, if anything. That was version 9 something, I believe.

Happens to me all the time. It is one thing to know you made a mistake, but when you specifically remember fixing it, something is not right.

Plus, on my account you have to copy the FIESA, send that to supe along with specs, so I feel it is a waste of time. FIESA is just another tool to keep your score down so you don't get bonus.

Nuance doesn't have a clue!!

I just tried posting about this very problem but I don't see my post listed. I will try again. I do believe I have been charged for errors I have not made and felt the only recourse was to ask on this forum. We are so isolated, and how would we know if QA or QC was changing our stuff to show errors? I don't know what to do with the information that this is happening to others too, but I am certainly going to mention it to my supervisor.

Even if you do go into the EditScript dictionaries and delete them, they just reload each time you log in to EditScript (if that's the platform you're on). I have a list so far of incorrect spellcheck entries that you will not be alerted of with red underlining because they're "acceptable," except if QA/QC catches you not having corrected them, of course. My SR drafts come through with some of these misspelled a good 90% of the time ("arouseable" being the most notable one). I've reported them to my TSM, and I believe she passed the info on, but nothing has changed, for me anyway.

Has anybody ever had the experience on the EditScript or other platforms with Nuance where you got feedback from Fiesa saying you made errors you didn't make-text either inserted or left out? I would so love to know what this has cost them over the last 4 years of ridiculousness. I mean, really? They claim to want accuracy...check. They claim to need employees that show up every day...check (despite major medical illnesses), and they say they want to be transparent in their pay plan/structures... Unbelieveable..for years I have been typing comorbid, now I get a correction of co-morbid all throughout my report. In the past, I have been told to change cc to mL but then I got corrected by MME and so went back to cc, now I am corrected again that it should be mL. You know, where you have to stop and type in a "his," "the," "no," "were," "and," or separate a run-on into 2 sentences, add a "She" to a sentence, change a letter, join 2 sentences into one, etc., because VR goofed. This has been working well for me: Use SINGLE LETTERS (T, E, F, and so on) for the very most common words and corrections. I have had so many dictators dictating the same PE, etc. and have to continually change the same things. Is there a way to make a heading such as CHEST from "the chest is..." work? I work on v 9, 10 and 11 and I have noticed that when I make corrections on some VR reports the corrections do not seem to stick by the time they get to QC. I have seen mistakes that I distinctly remember correcting while I am editing and then they show up as not corrected on the QC reviews. Thankfully it hasn't happened on post-audit but it is pretty upsetting. I swear the speech engine just makes up the output as it has no resemblence to what the doctor says! We got a note stating we were making too many errors and our quality had gone down, with a side note that QAM knows we are struggling to maintain our counts, but this does not matter. I had a fairly short note that was easy - and correct - except for a couple of lab terms I wasn't sure of because the dictator slurred over them. Wanting the report to be correct, I submitted it to QA in the hope that the "smarter" QA person would hear the lab terms and fill them in. Ha! She didn't know either, but instead went through and "corrected" things that didn't need correcting, I'm sure in order to justify her job. No more will ...
