When I was hired a few months ago, I said I was really only interested in part time...probably 20 hours/wk. The recruiter said yeah, that was fine. I got my offer letter with the schedule and knew with one look it was more than 20 hours, but I didn't think about it that much. I did ask the recruiter, and he said that we had discussed that but he didn't have any 20 hour schedule availabe, so we agreed on a 30-hour schedule. I don't recall this, but I said all right. Then I sat down and actually looked at the schedule. It was 40 hours. So I talked to him again. He gave me the same BS. We talked about other schedules but he didn't have anything part time to give me. MAYBE I did forget something about the initial conversation and agreeing to a 30-hour schedule, but I KNOW I did not initially agree to a 40-hour schedule. But I sucked it up and agreed to it then. Well, I'm finding it extremely difficult to work this schedule. I know a lot of people end up OOW, but I usually do okay on my main account. Usually, most is one shift where I'll run out of work, and it might be only a couple hours I'll lose. Not nearly enough for me to get something resembling the schedule I initially wanted.
I don't know if it's the company or the job itself or working from home (first time), but I'm finding this job extremely soul sucking.
