Optiscript part time to full time - cocoabeans

Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. I am thinking of cutting down to part time at my current employee so I can work part time elsewhere and eventually just leave my current employee once I see how the land lays elsewhere. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated :)

I applied, tested and was told I was on a waiting list for part-time. That was LAST FEBRUARY. She told me part-time doesn't come open that often and so a few months later, after assuring with her I was still on the list, some things changed for me and I even e-mailed and said, ok, I'll take full-time. She said she would put me on the full-time waiting list and still NOTHING. I don't think it should take almost a year to hear about an opening, do you? Wouldn't attempt it, if my experience is their norm.

I work there and went from part-time to full-time last year. However, there have been no openings in a long time as most MTs stay for a long time. I know some have been there more than 10 years. They don't overhire, and when they do add someone they're hired from the waiting list. I have IMd with 1 MT who waited a year to work here and she is glad she did. I'm very happy here.

Yes, they have schedules and now a timeclock, but they are very fair and expect a day's work for a day's pay. I work in acute care, and the line rate is better than other companies out there, especially in SR.

I'm not looking to leave that's for sure, after reading some of the horrible stories on this board.

How long did you have to wait to go to full time? Can you make up time if you do not get in 8 hours? My current employer is a big company who do not mind if you make up time as long as its in the same work week that you missed it. Just do not know how the grass is on the other side. TIA!

There pay was NOT better than the norm! It was quite low actually compared to the other offers, and then I found out that they actually sit and crunch numbers as to the whole time every one is using their keyboard down to the percentage. I said, NOPE. I sit in my chair and work, but it's the thought that I know someone is watching every move I make. NOT.

It seems to me that full-time IC is a contradiction. I mean, in order to really be an IC, per IRS, don't they indicate that you should have more than one client? So, if one client requires full-time, that means you have to work more than full-time in order to keep everyone happy?
