how can I get an at-home transcription job? - Lisa

How can I get an at-home job as a medical transcriptionist? I have been applying constantly at online positions and they all require "experience" already. Please help!
What kind of transcription experience - msmt

do you have?
Experience, or Andrews, or M-TEC - sm

The companies require experience because you will be unable to do the work without it. They do not have resources to train you or provide helicopter monitoring.
If you have taken a course, ask them how to get a job. If you have not taken a course, only two courses are reliable in terms of enabling you to get a job with national MTSOs -- Andrews or M-TEC.

Maybe being open to working at a hospital or doctor's office possible to get a foot in the door. Or even a hospital that sends their transcriptionists home eventually. If you need a job with a steady income, consider these. A lot online jobs pay CPL and if you're depending on this as a main income, you might be a little fustrated when the paycheck comes. I'm really not trying to be negative and I'm sorry if it sounds like it.

Home Transcription Ad...ha Jul 08, 2012Love my job as an at-home MT and love working from home, but that set aside, I think we can all agree that if you're looking to make good money, this is likely not the profession to pursue anymore. So I saw this ad in one of my magazines, August issue:Train at home to Work at Home . . . Be a Medical Transcriptionist . . . Earn up to $40,000 a year. . . Also, there's a picture of a lady at her computer smiling really big with her 4 or 5-year-old daughter in her lap. Hahahaha ...

MT Transcription Area In Your Home, Where Is It? Jan 25, 2010Where are you set up? I am moving my desk and office stuff around, I find if I do that I actually work better (I know that sound strange, but I find that it's true!) My mother used to move her furniture around every once in a while... LOL Not that it made a huge amount of difference honestly, but it made her happy and it did liven things up a bit.
So, my question is, where is your MT station set up in your home? I thought about moving out by the kitchen and out of my offi ...
If I Was Let Go Of A Home Medical Transcription Job...? Mar 06, 2010In previous posts I mentioned that I was let go of a home medical transcription job because I didn't produce the "perfect" amount of work that was needed right away...
Anyways, as I mentioned previously, I got this home medical transcription job only a month after I graduated from Rasmussen College and was let go just last month. Left At Home Transcription.... Jul 02, 2011I have been doing transcription for about 15 years now. After leaving MedQuist due to their bad management, I have been hopping around for several years not able to find the right match for me. Everything that sounds great at the beginning turns out to be the opposite. Either the pay is cut in half for their horrible speech recognition or it pays well and the program that they use just isn't very productive. I realized I had no choice but go back into the hospitals when my last position ...

Wanting To Transition To At-home Transcription Mar 12, 2012Hi, I currently work full-time at a University Hospital in Iowa in the Department of OB/GYN and have been transcribing in this department for 8 years. I transcribe for the residents and since their notes are so detailed I have experience in typing about other medical conditions besides just gynecology/ob related. I have an hour commute one way and I am seriously thinking of quitting this job and trying at-home transcription so I can be closer to my daughter during the day. She ...
Transcription At Home Changed My Life Jan 19, 2013In the year 2000 I started making 34,000 then by 2005 I was making over 55,000/year. I bought a house, thought eveything was good. Suddenly in in 2008 I made 37,452 and by 2009 I lost my house, my job and had to live on my 401K money that I had to take out early to survive on, plus unemployment of course. This year 2013 I made 18,000 dollars. I lost my standing in life, I feel depressed alot, I can't take my grandchildren out anymore like I used to, maybe once a year is all I can afford. ...

Would You Still Recommend At-home Medical Transcription, In 2011 Nov 05, 2011I was trained as a Medical Transcriptionist at a two-year college from 1990 to 1992. I worked at a hospital for a couple of years doing radiology, non-invasive cardiology, and neurology transcription, then I got married and moved. Soon thereafter, I started work at a mental health clinic as a Medical Transcriptionist with 12 other transcriptionists. This was in late 1993 and I am still there as of right now. The 12 transcriptionists have either left or been laid off over ...

Well, That Hit Home. Jun 13, 2011I just did a report that outlined, in great detail, something that my dad went through several years ago. He died last year and I guess with father's day coming up I am just missing him a lot. I think that was the hardest report I have ever done! I stopped in the middle of it and just lifted that patient up in prayer and asked that his family not have to go through what mine did. I miss my dad!!!! I had to stop working a few minutes early because I just can't st ...
At Home MTs - Feb 09, 2012What do your QA people actually do?
I have two jobs, as I've said before. Both outsource pieces of their work and at both I wonder just what it is that the QA people do? At both I really wonder how the MT even got their job at all but I really wonder what the QA people do!
At the hospital, we send the op reports out, probably 60 a day. They get done by a company owned by the former Q but they claim they're done in America. Every day we come in to 50 of t ...

Working From Home? Dec 01, 2009Hello,
Im just finishing up a medical transcription course/certification program with Allied schools, and I was wondering if there are any of you MT's working from home or are most of you working in a hospital? Something We Workers-at-home Need To Consider... Jan 21, 2010when I started telecommuting full time.It finally penetrated my consciousness a couple of weeks ago that every year, when it came time to renew my auto insurance policy, I used to get a call from a local agent, and we'd go over the policy, making sure there were no changes. One of the questions was always how many miles did I drive to and from work each day, along with the current odometer reading, and the estimated number of miles driven each year.I haven't gotten one of those calls i ...
Do Any At Home MTs Miss This... Feb 09, 2010I totally miss getting a huge snowstorm (like today in my area, 10 to 14 inches) and being able to call in to work to say "I can't make it in today... the roads are horrible"
I am trying hard to concentrate on work today, but all I want to do is call in to work, go outside and build a huge snowman, then shovel a little, and come in and make a huge mug of hot chocolate and watch it snow.

What I Don't Like About Working At Home Right Mar 02, 2010now is that I would really love to tell somebody off!! Yes, I know that may sound childish, but this company has put my stress level through the roof, my blood pressure through the roof, and their BS has me so pissed off, if I were in an office where they were I would find great satisfaction in letting them have it verbally, not in writing. Yes, I would be fired on the spot, but it would be so worth it. It's just not the same when they don't have to face someone in person.& ...
Working At Home Mar 09, 2010Everyone says "I would love to work from home". Working from home has been having negative effects on me. I've been doing this for 12 years. I never used to have anxiety or depression. Now, I do. This job is so isolating. I'm sick and tired of staying home in my PJs. I try to get out of the house as much as possible, but little trips to the grocery store is not cutting it. I get depressed staying home all the time. I lack a social l ...
