I graduated from Andrews about a week ago and am thrilled to say I got a job already! I had only sent out 4 resumes and took 1 test. I am posting just to show there are jobs out there for newbies and of course it does matter where you go to school I think. So newbies stay positive and you will find a job!

Congratulations! Now the real "work" begins :) Really, it is quite an accomplishment--pat yourself on the back. I know that every time I have hired an Andrews graduate, it has been a wonderful experience! Best of luck on your new path.

Thank you so much for your congratulations although I may hold off on patting myself on the back for a while! I am looking forward to working (although a bit nervously)and just rely on the good education I was given and my excellent reference materials.

I would like to add my congratulations to you! You should be proud of yourself. I wish you all the best as you enter the MT world. I truly hope that if anyone is reading this board, hoping to find information about an education, they see your post and realize that WHAT SCHOOL DOES MATTER. Andrews grads get hired, no problem. Sorry I can't say the same for those who fall for the "institutes" and such that advertise in the women's magazines. I am really pleased that you chose a great school and I am betting you will be very successful on your new job. I hope you do something nice for yourself to celebrate!

How Many Hours Did You Spend As An Andrews Student A Week? Jun 10, 2015Their website says students spend 15 to 30 hours a week on coding practice and reading assignments. I know everyone is different, with different abilities and other responsibilities, etc. but I am just wondering how many hours some of you spent a week while being an Andrews student? I am going to start soon and I am getting excited! ...
I Just Graduated Mar 20, 2013I just graduated from Career Step's MT curriculum with Honors. I'm looking around for jobs now but I'm very nervous. What is I'm too slow or I am not as accurate as they want me to be? Will companies be more understanding to inexperienced transcriptionists who just went to school?
Also I was scrolling down the forum and a lot of people are saying no one is hiring. Is that true? ...
Just Graduated... Any Advice???? Jan 05, 2010I know that the MT world is starting to get difficult to find gainful employment, but I am a recent Honors graduate. Do any of the experienced MT's have any advice of getting into the business? I really have my heart set on making this work. So any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Maybe, if you would have some names of companies that are willing to take a chance on a newbie.
I hope that everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season.

Haven't Even Graduated... Jan 11, 2010..well, I'm really close to finishing. It seems as though, based off things said here, I've made a bad decision. Oh well, I'm almost done, so I mine as well finish and sit for the RMT exam. I actually am applying to school for respiratory therapy. Any newbie's have anything positive to say about their experiences getting started as an MT? I hate to have a negative attitude, that's really not how I am, but sometimes you have to be realistic. I'll still apply to MT jo ...
Newly-Graduated MT May 27, 2010I'm a newly-graduated MT - I just graduated 4 weeks ago. I'm feeling really nervous, reading all the postings here, because it sounds like I chose the wrong field to go into. And I had to spend my IRA funds for these classes, too! I went through a 1-year certificate program (it actually took me two years to finish because of the way classes were scheduled). I feel it was thorough education - anatomy/physiology, pharmacology, lab/diagnostic tests, human diseases, medical terminology, ph ...

Graduated Have Not Taken My CPC Or CCS Exam Yet Jan 01, 2013Hello everyone. I graduated last Sept with my coding degree and intend to take my CPC or CCS certification test or possibly both eventually. I am wondering if anyone who is currently coding has been able to had a hard time finding their 1st position out of school ? I have applied to some of my local hospitals only to be told you have to have minimum of 2 years ex ...

Newly Graduated MT..and Scared May 04, 2011So the second week of April I got my graduation certificate in the mail from At-Home Profession's Medical Transcription Program. I am excited, I am ready for some MT work. I have been applying to places online and have sent out introduction letters to 20 different clinics and doctors offices with my information and business cards. Most places that are looking for MT's on this website require at least 1 year of experience and I can understand that. I am a newbie and no one likes to carr ...

HAPPY MT WEEK - Have A Great Week May 17, 2010To all you wonderful MTs working and slaving your lives away, Happy MT Week. I appreciate you. I appreciate your kindness when I have a rant or a rave, when I'm at my wits end with the constant changing around of clients, client profiles and the never ending dings being thrown at me. I appreciate knowing that I am not alone in this struggle.

At 99.4% This Week, Congratulated That I Improved Over Last Week. Feb 13, 2015Good grief. I did not change the way I edit. It so depends on how many commas they think you should have. Yes, I made an unusual (for me) mistake last week, but the rest of passing an audit is dumb luck of whether you get a realistic auditor or Ms English wannabe.

M Tec Or Andrews? Jun 03, 2010I am an LPN looking into the field of MT. I am tired of standing on my feet for 2-3 hour med passes and lifting and turning patients. I am ready to work hard from home. Thanks!! ...
Andrews Oct 06, 2012I'm considering Andrews coding, but would love some feedback for those who enrolled that had no medical or MT background. I have very little medical background and it seems the MT's are favored as they are more familiar with terminology. For those enrolled how do you like the course? Do you find the course interesting? I already know its challenging! Thanks for any info you can provide! ...
Andrews Or CCO?? Feb 05, 2015I'm trying to do as much research as possible into changing careers from MT to coding, and I've narrowed down my two choices of schools to Andrews and CCO (CodingCertificate.Org). According to CCO's website, they now offer courses that will prepare you to take the CCS exam. I've heard positive things about CCO, but I've also heard positive things about Andrews, and how thorough it is, but also that it's very difficult. I would love to hear either f ...
Just Enrolled At Andrews! CCS Without RHIT (Considering Andrews) Feb 26, 2011Coders: In a situation where a new graduate of a program has the CCS but not the RHIT, do you believe this would be an obstacle to finding employment? I notice some jobs say CCS or RHIT and some want both.
I am weighing the pros and cons between attending a program that I know will prepare me to pass the CCS (Andrews) versus a program to earn a degree that will make me eligible to take the RHIT and, hopefully, pass the CCS.
For background, I am a medical transcriptionist and also will graduate ...
