Are there any companies hiring new graduates? I can't seem to get my foot in a door. Everyone wants experience.
Something Every School Knows - Who likes to hire their graduates-see message

Talk to your school. Each and every school has some employers who really like to hire their graduates whenever they have openings. Your school knows where their graduates go to work.
In the awful chance that none, or few, of their graduates get or keep jobs, that's a problem.
That's when you just have to see if you can test well with any of the employers that will allow you to test. Once you test and find out how you did, you'll know one of two things. You did well, so your skills are marketable. You didn't do well, so your skills are not marketable.
Where do you go from there? I don't recommend just enrolling with a 2nd or 3rd school as some do. That would be a time when you look at whether this is a good fit for you. Here's some information to seriously consider. I found it somewhere from a survey of MT employers. I think it's really helpful to those who are considering a career in MT, but maybe aren't ready, and those who got pressured into it when it really wasn't right for them or they weren't right for it. Take a look at it and let me know what you think.
FACTORS IMPACTING MT SUCCESS AND FAILURE
â€Â¢ Adequate speed, desire, and ability to meet quality production requirements
â€Â¢ Choice of employment options
â€Â¢ Willingness to accept direction from supervisors
â€Â¢ Understanding when to ask for help and motivation to make that effort
â€Â¢ Work-at-home office environment appropriate for production transcription
â€Â¢ Self-discipline when working from home without direct supervision
â€Â¢ Technical issues such as condition of computer equipment and internet access/speed
â€Â¢ Flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet market needs
â€Â¢ Use of available resources, including school placement assistance
â€Â¢ Determination and perseverance throughout the new medical transcription orientation process
not the OP, but thank you for your reply. Usually, - testing

when applying, one is lucky to even receive an answer, it almost never contains the "score" of the assessment test.
The usual answer is:
Thank you for applying and taking the pre-employment test. We are not hiring at the moment, but we will take your application into consideration when we are hiring again....." Etc.
Does this mean that I passed the test?
I assume I did. Or?
are offering bonuses again. I would expect at some point with supply and demand a lot of MTs including me will either get out of the business or go PT or retire and there will be less people looking for jobs. Just a thought. As far as overseas with EMR they will not be getting the work either that they used to so it should be interesting to see where this all goes. It is already quite obvious to support a family you cannot do it very well with this job anymore. Ther ...
I have noticed that in job ads, some companies state that they will not hire MTs who are in California. Why is this? I haven't been on this board for awhile. What did I miss about that? ...
Because the synopsis of their ads are, We want:
2nd and 3rd shift only......availability when it is not your shift.....weekends......holidays.....99% accuracy......no benefits.....no vacation......no sick time....able to handle garbage dictation.....years of experience......strict schedules even for ICs.....ability to change your shift without notice.......2 hour testing required.......AND DO NOT EVEN TELL YOU WHAT THE PAY IS, only later to find out it is 6 cpl typing, 4 cpl VR. Real ...
I started a job part time last week, doing 2 days a week and have been out of work 2 of the 4 days I was supposed to work and was told to flex my hours. I have a full time job and it is very difficult to flex for a part time job. Why do these companies hire if there is actually no work? I am already at a point where I want to leave. I work because I have to, not because I have idle time on my hand to flex in order to get work and end up putting in time on 3-4 different da ...
Are there any good MT companies out there any longer that actually pay something that we can live on? I know all about the "if you want to earn more, work more" deal but honestly, the pay has depreciated so much you would have to work 12 hours a day to make what I used to make in 8. Didn't go to school and get into this field of work 15 years ago to make less than a waitress. Any good companies out there? ...
Anyone know any medical transcription companies that are hiring that you can use Windows 8 with? I upgraded and really don't want to have to roll back to Windows 7. ...
I have 25 years of experience and am looking for P/T work on eScription. I have an Expert Certification in EditScript and am a fast and accurate editor. I am trying to find a company who has steady work without being assigned to tons of accounts in order to get your lines and also no set schedule. I don't care about whether it's employee or IC, but I need the flexibility because of having to care for my adult daughter with a disability.
I am open to other platforms also, if need ...
I am currently working at a company and with the way things are going with all of these companies, I am just afraid of layoffs. It's sad to see all of the same transcription companies on the job boards hiring, and it seems by reading the boards none of them are worth working for. I sure wish when I decided to go into transcription I could have looked into the future a few years. I have been doing transcription now for 6 years. I am thankful I do have my job still and ...
I have applied at so many of these companies, taken and apparently passed the tests, filled out extensive interview forms, only to have them get back to me with "we don't have any part-time positions at this time". This is getting old and I am really getting frustrated. ...
I am about 2 weeks away from the final and would take any advise on the final, the job search and any other great advise you can give me. I am hoping to work from home to take care of my son. Good companies, bad companies? how is the pay for new graduates? ...
Does anyone know of a company who will hire newbies? I have been doing this for 15 years, but a family member has just graduated and is looking for a job. Any help for her would be appreciated. Thanks. ...
I'm currently studying for the RMT exam. I was wondering of those who have taken it and passed, what helpful hints you might have for preparing for this exam? I've got a study guide through ADHI that I'm working through. I'm also going over all the books and terminology flashcards I recieved through At-Home Professions.
Also, how many weeks did you study for this exam? I am hoping to take 4 weeks, but have heard of some who spent six weeks or more preparing.
And, lastly, di ...
Would like to know if any graduates of Andrews or M-Tec became employed shortly after completing course and how much I could be expected to earn on a part-time basis (20 hrs/wk)? ...
I am seriously considering going into the coding program with Andrews soon. My main concern just lies in finding employment after I finish and become certified. Can any Andrews graduates share their experiences? Were you able to find employment quickly? Was anyone able to start working from home immediately? There are 2 hospitals in my town, but it is not a huge city, and I am afraid employment opportunities may be limited here locally. Anything you can tell me that might be useful would be much ...
Just curious if there are any new Andrews graduates (in the last 30 days) that are having success finding a job? I am looking to start this program soon and do not want to jump from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak...been an MT for MANY, MANY years.... Are there jobs out there? How hard are they to find/get? What is general starting pay? Feeling anxious/nervous/excited.... ...
I am looking for any one who has completed the AHP program and is currently employed. I need any advice you are willing to give.
Thanks for your time. ...
Hi everyone! I hope someone can shed some light on who hires recent graduates for home-based MT work. I've been applying to every company I can find but most want in-house experience or 1 year+. Not having a car limits my in-house work. That's why I went into this field. I've been looking for 2 weeks and have gotten few replies (all "thanks but no thanks"). I've completed Medical Terminology course with a 94% and Medical Transcription cours ...
From reading post after post on the New MTs Board, it seems like one of the main reasons a lot of people chose the Medical Transcription field is because they were lured in by the “work at home, when you want” dream. But when reading through the job opening ads, any type of flexibility is usually reserved for Independent Contractor positions, and IC positions usually want lots of experience so the MT can work with little or no supervision.
On top of that, at least in my opinio ...
1. How long did it take you to complete the course?
2. Were you able to pass the certification exam?
3. Are you working as a coder?
4. Overall opinion on the career step coding course?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
TIA ...
Has anyone graduating from the Andrews coding course gotten jobs. I know how hard it is to get a job without prior experience. I am 61 and wondering if it is worth the expense and effort to take the couse. I have fifteen years of MT experience and also have worked in a hospital for years before that. Thanks. ...
I have been doing research on the various coding programs out there and before I spend a large amount of money on training, I want to ask former Andrews coding students a couple of questions.
1. Did you pass the certification exam(s) and, if so, did you feel like the schooling that you received prepared you for the exam?
2. Are you currently working as a coder and, if not, how long have you been actively looking for a job and have you been able to get job interviews. I realize that getting ...
