A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
I have been doing research on the various coding programs out there and before I spend a large amount of money on training, I want to ask former Andrews coding students a couple of questions.
1. Did you pass the certification exam(s) and, if so, did you feel like the schooling that you received prepared you for the exam?
2. Are you currently working as a coder and, if not, how long have you been actively looking for a job and have you been able to get job interviews. I realize that getting a job in coding depends upon a multitude of factors such as geographic location, certification, interviewing skills, etc. I've been an MT for nearly 30 years and want to stay in the medical field, just not as a transcriptionist. Medical transcription has served me well in the past but, as all MTs know, those days are long gone and it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a decent living in transcription and even harder to obtain health benefits or vacation time without slaving away at the keyboard for hours on end.
Any input will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
