I've been gone from MQ for about 5 months now, working at the front desk at a local group of docs office. I learned how to schedule patients and meetings, take payments, do the office bills, and file claims and bill insurance for patients and I've got to say, I never gave a thought to much of the person working the front desk. I have been yelled at, threatened, given dirty looks and was once even told that I was an "old, ugly hag". All this usually happens when the discussion of money comes into play. People don't seen to understand what their insurance does and does not cover, and especially get all up in arms when we discuss that fees for visits cannot be set, because payment depends on what the doc does in the treatment areas!
Sometimes I feel like telling people that it's THEIR responsibility and NOT MINE to know what their insurance does and does not cover! Financial matters often send people through the roof and sometimes it seems unfair to me, that the doc and staff behind the doors get all the praise and me and the other guy up front are the bashing posts and reviled; BUT ...my point is... I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE ESCAPED FROM THE Q that it's worth it!!! haha!
I continue to read this forum weekly and it seems that nothing has changed and that makes me sad, but I get STEADY and PREDICTABLE pay, got great benefits after 90 days, and have holidays and other days off WITH PAY! This week before we left the office, the docs and their wives gave us beautiful gift baskets with wine, flowers and goodies as well as a generous gift card. I wanted to cry! It was a gift of APPRECIATION and GRADITUDE. I NEVER even got a phone call from MQ when I was in the hospital once for 4 days with pneumonia! (they did call after my sick days were over to ask if I could work overtime though...)
I wish that all of you could find steady work and pay and that you all didn't have to beg and scrape for work. I'm wishing that for the holidays that you all get enough work to put some goodies in your stockings. I feel blessed (and just plain-old lucky) to have found someone to take a chance on this old gal once again, and it feels great to use my transcription skills once in a while too! (the docs transcription service is the Q, and he IS NOT happy with their quality of work. I explained to him that his work is done by a machine, not a person, and that made him more frustrated!)
Well, I just wanted to say happy holidays to my old supporters on this forum. I "WISH" that the New Year bring changes for good. Merry Christmas!
