My CTS has gotten so bad in the last few months,I have been advised surgery - so is Workers Comp an option for me?

I have been ignoring the horrible numbness and tingling..and now pain at night, inability to sleep...hours to get my fingers to get giong in the morning...all to avoid having to explore surgery...but now I am thinking..What do I have to lose? Isn't CTS a workers comp injury?

Why am I trying to do the right and honorable thing when I may be able to go off on workers comp and get retrained for something else???

Another nicety of having real no direct contact for your company..you have no idea what your benefits are when you are injured.

I know Medquist deducts State Worker's Compensation on check stub, so depending on your State Law, you tell your doctor you are having the problems you are having and what you think the reason may be and they submit it as a work-caused injury. If you are paying State Worker's Compensation, then that insurance will cover your doctor bills and if needed, you will be compensated also for time missed. Anyone that can clarify further???

OK, here goes. First question you have to ask and will be asked, when did the symptoms start. This is important as it tells them what company to put the blame on and charge for this. Work comp MUST be provided by all employers who employ over a certain number of people, federal regulations there. There is no question you will get money benefits on top of your medical bills paid but I think the percentage depends on the State, last figure I knew was 80% of your pay based on the last 4 quarters. YOU MUST PROVE THE ILLNESS/INJURY IS WORK RELATED. That is, your work not only caused it but keeps reinjuring it, keeps it going and getting worse. You must prove you have tried all passive therapies such as wrist guards, wrist rests, exercises, physical therapy, medications. I strongly suggest you consult an attorney, one that will represent you if needed for a percentage of your lump sum settlement when he/she gets you your work comp benefits instead of a set hourly fee.

I have to say the stress level went down almost immediately. I went on to be a CNA and though physically harder work, there is room for growth financially and moving up into another position. Not so with Nuance. Growth potential at this place was zero-more like they try to keep you held down as much as possible. the summer. I took a couple months to find a new job. When I did, unfortunately, the only thing out there was transcribing so, I reluctantly took the job. I was absolutely floored.
