Why am I the only one happy about the swap board?  I think its a great idea.  Being able to swap and pick up hours.  I am having a hard time understanding the who "You cannot claim this shift thing".  One of the criteria is of it being over your hours.   But overall, I think its gonna be good for swapping when your in a pinch.

I do not necessarily dispprove of the swap board but my CCM has just not explained adequately the purpose of it. As a part timer, I do see it as a great opportunity to pick up extra hours. On the other hand, are they expecting if we need ANY time off, other than PTO, we have to give up our shift in order to do it? Such as for doctor appts. (I thought we could take time without pay for doctors appts if we chose to), making up hours when their is no work, etc. I just wish someone would give us MTs an outline of how this swap board is to be used. Full timers can only pick up hours when OT is allowed. I just want questions answered about how it is to be used. If anyone out there has heard this from MQ or their CCM, Please share! ALSO, I am only seeing my hours posted for April, making it impossible for me to post a shift in May or June (and I may need some extra hours in June if not enough PTO).

My schedule is only entered 1 week at a time, which does not give a lot of time to post a swap and wait for someone to pick it up.

If the CCMs would enter the schedules at least a month out, if not 2, it would be a lot easier to trade shifts.

I do agree that for part-timers it is easier to pick up extra hours, but in my service area, you are not supposed to pick up hours anyway (even if posted) unless there is a backlog. I do think that people are doing it anyway which is contributing to the issue of NJA.

The only way this will work correctly is if the CCMs get on the ball and inform everyone how to use it and enter schedules further out. Just my opinion.

that are impossible for me to take. Either in the middle of the night (12-1AM, and I have kids to get to school in the morning, so I can only do it on weekends), and one person has several 10-hour shifts on there! He/she really should have broken it up. I wish I knew who it was, I'd offer to take maybe 2 or 3 hours of their shift, but can't do 10.

I even emailed my CCM about it (find out who it is and ask them to split their shift) but no response. :(

we can only use it for the current work week. That just doesn't cut it for me. They either need to give us the ability to post hours without our schedule showing OR start putting in the schedule in 1-3 months at a time.

So, if I know I'll need time off later in the month, I'll just end up using my PTO rather than post the time the week of and hope someone claims it.

I'd rather be able to save my PTO but that won't happen the way the swap board is setup right now.

so it isn't like it's a huge task for them. Once the template is made, they just click "insert" and even the PTO if approved in TW is transferred automatically. There must be some reason they are only doing 1 week out, hmmmmmm, certainly not for our benefit.

Well thankfully my CCM posts schedules out at least to the next pay period. It is impossible to use this is your CCM is only posting schedules for one week. That's ridiculous. I agree with everyone that they need to be more clear on this process. I am still concerned about it telling me I can't have the shift if I have already worked my hours. I should be able to use this board to work extra hours as well. I guess that's not really swapping then, is it? Oh well.

I can see shifts available for claiming 2 weeks out... or it could be per pay period, but right now I can see the next 2 full weeks. My problems are ... we have 4 areas in our BOB and we are only able to swap with our specific area within our BOB. Very rarely are their shift requests for my area. Also I have put shifts on their twice and no one has claimed. One of the times I really need the time off and just ended up emailing my sup and flexing my hours. I like the idea, but I don't think enough people are using it now to be an effective tool. Esepcially since I can't pick up any hours that I want to swap until my hours are claimed b/c I am full time.

Great for picking up hours for extra work. Simple. However, for listing hours/shifts, there are a lot of unanswered questions. What if you have a really important event or appointment or say you are out of town? What if no one picks up the whole or part of your shift if you break it up? What if you cannot be physically available to work your shift? Are ylu really expected to drop your plans to work? What about reservations for vacations, weddings, funerals, children's sporting events. You know, those special times that you just want to/have to be there and no one picks up your hours? What if you go and do what you are planning thinking you are covered and then someone changes their mind and "unclaims" that time shift? Are you stuck? What if you don't even know about it? What if we can't find make up hours on the board that fit in with our lifestyles and needs? I certainly don't want to take on a 10-hour shift if all I need is 4 hours to make up work. AND do we have to make up work if we get someone to cover our shift or are we "covered?" These are just a few answers floating around my head. It leaves me insecure about the "flexibility" of the swap board. CCM hasn't bothered to answer e-mails on this.

I tried the swap yesterday.  I put in to give up my shift on Friday, 4-9 as doing the Relay for Life walk that evening.  It appeared to take as I had RECLAIM next to my shift instead of SWAP but when I went in today, it said SWAP again.  It looked the same as it did before I put in to swap.  When I looked on the SWAP board there were no shifts up for grabs and yesterday there were 2 on there??? How is the Swap Board going to work when you are locked out after your schedule?  Supervisor going to have to MANUALLY unlock you in order to get jobs routed to you?  Sometimes contacting them takes hours if not days to get an answer.  ...

I used Schedule Source for about a year when they were testing it.  It's one of those "benefits" they keep talking about.  The problem is, if you swap you will be in somebody else's cesspool - getting unfamiliar accounts for which you have to read maybe multiple  CPs and get reports where you may have to leave QA markers and spend extra time researching.  It's also a mechanism for MTs to dump shifts where they know they will get a specific crummy account/dictat ...

I don't quite get the swap board thing.  We were told we could go in and look at our schedule for the month and pick a day there if needed to place it on the swap board.  However, my schedule has never been recorded in Schedule Source farther out than 1 week at a time.  So, trying to put in any shift times for the swap in advance of the current work week is impossible for me to do.  I thought our schedule was suppose to automatically populate for the month.  I guess not, and CCM ...

Does anyone know if in order to use the swap board you have to actually swap a schedule, or can you just grab a schedule and not put one out there?  If that is the case, and part-timers are just grabbing some extra time, there may not be any schedules out there to make up time with.  ...

A shift for 6p to 9p is on the swap board.    If I work 8a to 4p,  I see the following:   Is ([MASTER] 8am-12pm;) Ok?  NO     Does this mean I have to be working 8-12 to claim this shift?   Within Max Hours/Week?  NO    Does this need to be approved because its OT?    These are criteria that give me a message "cannot claim shift".  I can't seen to claim ANY shift on this swap board.    If this is truly a "swap" board, shouldn't I be able to swap schedules ...

I left a message in post to another post about the Swap (swamp) Board.  I had wayyy too many hours showing I had scheduled to work.  I normally only work 24 hours week (48 hours pay period or maybe 54 at the most).  Mine said 66.50 hours scheduled to work.  I don't recall asking to pick up that many hours here and there.   My CCM said I needed to go in and reclaim the shifts????   She took off where I had approved my timesheet.  But I cannot find ...

Swap Board...maybe for part timers..but I will not go near it as a full time person.  I am not risking needing a day off by floating a shift, hoping somebody takes it..then finding another shift.  I will use other methods. First Time Right - the accessing old reports part.  I have in fact been helped by this a great deal. The problem is it is takes forever to go through a myriad of reports hoping to find the one that possibly will help you.  I like the Repository MUCH B ...

Apparently, my team (lucky us) has been selected to participate in a pilot to bring back the Swap Board.  If my memory serves me correctly, it was a ginormous disaster the last time they tried to force it upon us.  This on top of the back log of work, mandatory overtime and switching accounts?  Really?  Am I in the Twilight Zone?   ugh...first resume sent last week...more to follow for sure. ...
