Schedule Swap - Liz

Can anyone answer a question about this new procedure? I want to swap a shift for next week but having trouble understanding this new process. I guess if you want to work a different shift on a particular day, you would first need to post yours and make sure someone takes it before you claim another as you might end up working both - correct? It is not really swapping you have to give yours up and then hope there is one you can pick up. I am not really sure why we did not have a conference call on this before they threw us to the wolves. Thanks!

The CRAPBOARD (known as Swapboard) will not open up for me. It will not let me do anything. All it says is:

Assigned shifts not listed due to lead time buffer.

Whatever that means and we are supposed to start lockdown in 5 days and I have no jobs available. Yep, I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE BEFORE I JUST LOSE IT!

this a.m. and was able to ask for a switch of a couple of days next week, i would switch with you if you and i could work something out w/o all the rigamarole. anyway here is what i did on schedule source:

1. went under "schedule"
2. went under "month" and my calendar came up
3. i clicked on "swap" on the day i wanted to switch and am waiting for someone to claim.

do the 5.16 upgrade? i was unable to do the swap board until i did the 5.16 upgrade. i have vista and had to have tech walk me thru it. wanna switch? i need mon/tues off you want to switch this way. let me know.

"ommunication" are alive and well at MQ. We got the notice about 5.16 the other day and i upgraded yesterday and that was when I was able to do the swap. sorry to hear you were not properly informed or have yet to be informed. wish there was something i could for ya!! keeping fingers crossed.

I'm already down for 40 hrs/week. I guess if I got sick and missed some hrs, I could take a different shift, but why since I have PTO? I think this must be geared to just part time people as it seems really useful if you are already booked up for 40 hrs. Unless of course they (hahahaha) offer overtime.

Kind of makes planning things difficulty. You would like to work a weekend shift intead of midday shift..but need to wait until somebody claims your shift and then wait and see if the day you want to work is open?? So..how do you plan anything? How do you make appts if you hav to wait until the last minute to see if your shift is claimed...and to see when you WANT to work is open. It's like they go to million dollar corporate retreats and dream of ways of complicating something that should be fairly easy. Along with FirstTimeRight. STUPID STOOPID STEUPIT

like it is already a hassle. my area has this and anon's area does not. would you not think that this would be done all at the same time. seems kind of stupid that one area can do it and another cannot. am shaking my head. feel for anon. why is something so easy simply screwed up by Q? still shaking my head.

I have not even been told that this is available yet. I was told it was not available a couple weeks ago. I am working in SE4. Did you get an email or something regarding swap board being up and running, Ohh that would mean lock-out would be up and running too as they apparently go together. UGGh!

and you want more hours to work Friday night or Sat. You take that MT's hours, is it going to be DS and OP reports and you obviously cannot do the work because you are a tier 1? Does this also mean that you will constantly be in the cesspool because of doing other BOB's? Does anybody out there actually have a working swap board with a long schedule posted? I'm getting so frustrated with this supposedly wonderful tool for us to have. I tried the swap yesterday. I put in to give up my shift on Friday, 4-9 as doing the Relay for Life walk that evening. It appeared to take as I had RECLAIM next to my shift instead of SWAP but when I went in today, it said SWAP again. It looked the same as it did before I put in to swap. How is the Swap Board going to work when you are locked out after your schedule? Supervisor going to have to MANUALLY unlock you in order to get jobs routed to you? Sometimes contacting them takes hours if not days to get an answer. ...

I used Schedule Source for about a year when they were testing it. It's one of those "benefits" they keep talking about. The problem is, if you swap you will be in somebody else's cesspool - getting unfamiliar accounts for which you have to read maybe multiple CPs and get reports where you may have to leave QA markers and spend extra time researching. It's also a mechanism for MTs to dump shifts where they know they will get a specific crummy account/dictat ...

I don't quite get the swap board thing. We were told we could go in and look at our schedule for the month and pick a day there if needed to place it on the swap board. However, my schedule has never been recorded in Schedule Source farther out than 1 week at a time. So, trying to put in any shift times for the swap in advance of the current work week is impossible for me to do. I thought our schedule was suppose to automatically populate for the month. Does anyone know if in order to use the swap board you have to actually swap a schedule, or can you just grab a schedule and not put one out there? If that is the case, and part-timers are just grabbing some extra time, there may not be any schedules out there to make up time with. ...

Why am I the only one happy about the swap board? I think its a great idea. Being able to swap and pick up hours. I am having a hard time understanding the who "You cannot claim this shift thing". One of the criteria is of it being over your hours. But overall, I think its gonna be good for swapping when your in a pinch. ...

A shift for 6p to 9p is on the swap board. If I work 8a to 4p, I see the following: Is ([MASTER] 8am-12pm;) Ok? NO Does this mean I have to be working 8-12 to claim this shift? Within Max Hours/Week? NO Does this need to be approved because its OT? These are criteria that give me a message "cannot claim shift". I can't seen to claim ANY shift on this swap board. If this is truly a "swap" board, shouldn't I be able to swap schedules ...

Can anyone point me towards documentation on how the swap board works? I recently started getting TW emails showing my scheduled hours in one column and hours on the swap board in the other column. I can't find anything on the intranet site that explains it (although finding anything on the intranet site is usually a challenge anyways)! I left a message in post to another post about the Swap (swamp) Board. I had wayyy too many hours showing I had scheduled to work. I normally only work 24 hours week (48 hours pay period or maybe 54 at the most). Mine said 66.50 hours scheduled to work. I don't recall asking to pick up that many hours here and there. My CCM said I needed to go in and reclaim the shifts???? She took off where I had approved my timesheet. But I cannot find ...

Swap Board...maybe for part timers..but I will not go near it as a full time person. I am not risking needing a day off by floating a shift, hoping somebody takes it..then finding another shift. I will use other methods. First Time Right - the accessing old reports part. I have in fact been helped by this a great deal. Apparently, my team (lucky us) has been selected to participate in a pilot to bring back the Swap Board. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a ginormous disaster the last time they tried to force it upon us. This on top of the back log of work, mandatory overtime and switching accounts? Really?
