Why is it such a big deal what your signature block says on your e mail - anon

Posted: Dec 27, 2013

For the life of me I don't get what the big deal is. You have to put on so much information on your signature block, your accts, time zone you are in, your schedule, your manager, what is the big freaking deal. Do you need our blood type as well?

wait. what? - poorhouse

We're supposed to have a signature block on our emails? No one has ever told me that. OMG. I just sign it with my name. Dear gawd, this company.

Because we are just a number - just saying

[ In Reply To ..]
The TSMs need that info on the email because they have too many employees to keep track of. This info is all for the benefit of the TSM who does not have to look up your company number to find the same information; what is your schedule, what time zone are you in, what is your phone number. It is not for your benefit. When I filled out mine I put my husband's name, how many kids I have, what my favorite meal is, favorite movie, what I am going to school for and when I will be done, etc. Honestly if they want to pretend I am not just a number then ask some real questions, not just what time zone I am in.

I literally had no idea - poorhouse

that we were supposed to do that. sigh. I mean, it makes sense, even though I have no idea how many people work with me. What a joke that no one has even mentioned to me that this is something I need to do.

Big deal - sig block

[ In Reply To ..]
I cannot remember who, but someone sent us an email regarding the sig block, that they wanted us to include all this info, as they did not have time to look up personal info on each and every one of us in case they needed to contact us by home phone, cell phone, and the work schedule to know when we are working, etc., so they want us to include all this info on each email.

TSMs have too many MTs to keep up with. - Frustrated MT

[ In Reply To ..]
Each TSM had over 150 MTs to keep up with last year. Now that the areas are basically 3 areas and TSMs were let go during this "reorganizing" I am sure they have more. That's why you can never get in touch with them on the phone. When my mother died I left messages for my TSM for 2 full days before speaking with her and when I did I was at the funeral home. Ridiculous!

Too bad, that's their job to look it up if they dont know it. - No pity at all for the abbrev of the week. nm

Really? I have pity. Their job must be like herding cats. - And that is probably just the easy part.

[ In Reply To ..]
I wouldn't want that job from what I heard the pay is. Yes it is probably 50% more than I make, but the extra is surely more than offset by all the aggro. From the top AND from the bottom.

THEY don't have the time, etc. - SM

[ In Reply To ..]
to look things up .. but WE are supposed to find the time, since we're not being paid for doing all this crap in the 1st place .. how convenient for them.

No signature - Block

[ In Reply To ..]
I have never been told anything about a signature block and if I did I never put one and my TSM has never said anything about it...maybe its just a certain TSM/TSMs that want this. Mine knows who I am just from my email address. I don't even sign my name half the time I email her.

TSM could be rotating OUT - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
The signature lines are a definite way for the TSM to attempt keeping track of the additional MTs on their team. And it looks like the TSMs are rotating out the door (again). After the reorganization and restructuring that recently took place, I notice that the TSM that I have been working with for about a year has become very "snippy" and on edge. Even made a comment she was in fear of losing her job. I have noticed a definite change in her attitude almost to the point where she appears a bit paranoid. What is really going on? I thought she was such a nice lady. Actually, I really do not care what is going on with HER ... I only care about keeping my own job and I focus on what I have to do to earn a living.

They must have gotten this idea from - Nuance

[ In Reply To ..]
We have been required to do that for a long time. Scary how much these two are comparing notes.

Look out, you too will soon experience (if you are not already) getting your pay chopped through minor QA errors in the blink of an eye and the QAs will be getting bonuses off you. The goal is to take off any "bonus" and not have to account for it being a bonafide reduction in salary, and I swear they will not happy until we are all making minimum wage.

Unfortunately, my supervisor(s) do not seem to have the requirement for the signature block. To me, it would make more sense that THEY have their hours/days on their signature so we can know whether they are working or not if we have an issue and perhaps even someone who is covering when they are off, but despite multiple requests, no answer.

blood too - gltrgrammi

My thoughts exactly! Just more and more control. Never worked for a company like this one. If I wanted to be controlled like this, I would have stayed married to my first husband. He wasn't so bad compared to MM.

Has Anybody Else Had To Deal With This?
Aug 06, 2013

A little over a month ago my old PC finally crashed after 10 good years.  I replaced it and had to put antivirus on it (of course).  I ended up taking my son to the ER and can't afford insurance, so I ended up paying out of pocket for his antibiotics.  (Sad that the antibiotics cost less than a month of insurance for the two of us.)  My antivirus expires the day before I get my check.  Are there any safe alternatives for one day until I get paid?  ...
