What difference does it make to the - sm

scheduler person if we throw on a load of laundry while we stretch our legs?!?  We are allowed to stand up and stretch for god's sake!  The only thing she needs to worry about is our number of lines at the end of the day and if we worked our schedule.  That's literally all that matters.  Is it some kind of power/control trip?  Before, she said we're not supposed to take off and use PTO to go to the doctor, though of course it's okay for them to do that all the time, and now I guess we can't even stretch our legs.

Did the MT make quota?  Did they work their schedule?  Yes?  Then move on and don't worry about what they do at home in between reports.  It doesn't concern you.

Do they really have nothing better to do to earn those big bucks?  If I was the CEO trimming fat, I know where I'd start.  I think I'm extra irritable from all the OT, lol.

Did someone really confront you about inactive time? - That worries me.

[ In Reply To ..]
I have a great deal of inactive time. I go to the bathroom. I fix my lunch. I get a cup of coffee. I even take phone calls. I do not clock off during any of this. My lines are always well above minimum.

Exactly how much inactive time is acceptable or unacceptable? What is the penalty for it being too much? I have not had anyone say anything to me and I figure I always have about 45 minutes of inactive time.

Our group has always been told 10% or below - mtwillworkforfood

[ In Reply To ..]
which, in an 8-8hour shift, is a max of 48 minutes. I don't stress about it at all, do everything I need to do without clocking out, and I only remember being over 10% once.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

We're paid by line & have a quota to meet. If we meet it, then - sm

what on Earth difference does it make if we drag it out the whole day working slowly nonstop, or type super fast in bursts with breaks in between? I mean, seriously..... Talk about micromanaging. I was telling my husband about this & he couldn't believe it. He said nobody hounds him about his method, speed, breaks, etc., as long as it's done correctly and in a timely fashion.

Supposedly, they have a "tracker" - that shows the difference

[ In Reply To ..]
between how long you are in Fluency vs. how long you are logged into teamwork. I am constantly logging out of Fluency between reports to make sure my line count is up, check on a QA report, etc. Shouldn't this count as work time as well? Also, it's not like they're paying us hourly, so what in the world difference does it make?

Its all intimidation tactics. Every crappy stunt they pull - thats what it is. nm

They can and do match the Fluency time and time card time. - know from experience

[ In Reply To ..]
They are looking for anyway to get rid of people, and this provides them with the perfect gotcha way to fire you so you will not be eligible for unemployment with claims of time card fraud.
They don't really need a reason. - Dazed and confused
[ In Reply To ..]
The employee handbook states there is an employ-at-will policy, so they can fire you w/o a reason, and that covers them from any consequences.

didn't sit well with me either - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
Honestly, so what if we want to take 5 minutes every so often to throw a load of clothes in or do another quick chore or talk on the phone, you know they do it all the time, yet if you are clocked in you better be working on Fluency. Honestly enough is enough is enough. Its stupid because we are paid on production so we all know we have to work to produce the little money we get. Sometimes that few minutes away is good to clear the mind to get back to that stupid ASR nonsense we have to put up with.

I remember years ago - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
one of them would send updates and comment that she was at the gym or on the way to the mall and would be out of pocket for an hour or so. You know they have major flexibility, yet we're treated like indentured servants. I'm sick of it.

agree - cher

[ In Reply To ..]
Getting up and doing something does clear the mind and probably helps with production.

Why not clock off when you take a break? It sounds like they don't care if you take a break as long as you clock off?

I get up and walk away for a reason - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
Sheer frustration. When the dictators and ASR are horrendous, I finish the reports leave all the blanks and come back and try and fill them in. I hate ASR because it puts ideas in your head with the crap it prints that is nowhere near what is dictated. I need to blank things and try and forget what it wrote to fill it in correctly.

If you have to clock out everytime you need to - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
stretch or go to the bathroom, then you have to tack all that time onto the end of your shift, which technically you can't do without getting in trouble anyway, but I'm not tying up that much extra time on this crap. What other job makes you clock out to pee?! And we're PAID ON PRODUCTION ANYWAY. The whole thing is idiotic.
I clock in a little early - cher
[ In Reply To ..]
and sometimes I clock out a little late. During my shift I take time to get up and move around. I need to clock out when I'm not working because it would hurt my line count.
Nah, forget that. No other job makes you do that. 8 hrs - of our day is enough. NM

Agree by the end of 8 hrs - sm

I'm already about to put a bullet in my head, why would I extend the suffering? I get paid by what I do, so I'll do whatever I want to do.

Would It Make A Difference To You As An MT If Your...
Jul 20, 2011

CEO, COO, President, etc., came to you and said that management was taking a pay cut along with you?  Has anyone ever been told that their office staff or other support personnel have been doing without raises or taking pay cut with the bad economy?  Do they have mandatory reduction in hours when things are slow as there is no money coming in?  I'm just curious how much the nature of the beast affects everybody in a company versus the MTs and what the reasoning is.  Why ...

Line Rates For Editing Has Become Ridiculous - We Need To Make A Difference NOW!
Jan 07, 2010

So, here it goes -- We all know the medical transcription industry has really gone downhill with regard to our pay.  I currently just lost about $10/hour to change to editing and I have been doing it for several months hoping that it would get better, but it has not.  This is just crazy to me.  You still need the same amount of knowledge to create an accurate medical report.   I do not know about everyone else, but the reports I am seeing coming ...

There Must Be A Lot Of Difference In VR For
Oct 17, 2010

I have never been able to run much above 150 lph average doing VR for my company.  It is so horrid, I can usually type it quicker.  I cannot even imagine how anybody is doing 400-500 lph average.  Just pulling in the jobs, listening through patient information, filling in date of service, consulting physicians and such, fixing the ASR dictation and uploading the job -- there is no way on this earth it will ever happen at my company.  I need a new job apparently.  ...

Seeing No Difference With Upgrade To 6.1
Sep 27, 2010

Is it just me or my region but the only difference I have seen in the upgrade is the doctor's data base and being able to number with the numbering function.  I have yet to see the headings column come up on the left with a job or have the option on the top that says "type headings as dictated."  When I try to use the alt-H for inserting headers it it is still coming up in the middle of the screen and it is not showing, "client preferred headings."  Pretty much anything that ...

Maybe The Difference Is Some Of Us Dont See Ourselves

treated as such. If you do nothing to change a bad situation, the bad situation will never change.  But I guess some, like my DS, thrive on the drama of poor me, I can do nothing to help myself, please feel sorry for me.  And others, like me, hate drama, hate being treated bad, and refuse to stand by and let it continue.  I will not let a MTSO rule my life to the point of draining my bank account, monopolizing my time and stomping on my self esteem. Why would I stay in a situation ...

What Is An Easy Way To Tell The Difference Between These Two?
Mar 23, 2012

Procyte and Prosight I know that Prosight is a multivitamin.  I found both on WebMD's drugs and meds A-Z.  There was no information on Procyte.  It was just listed as Procyte Top.  I was not aware that there was a Procyte until earlier today.  The doctor dictated "And be careful you use the correct one, but I am unsure of the spelling."  That confused me a bit, so I did some research and the only place that I found any mention of Procyte was on WebMD.  An ...

Difference Between IC And Employee - S/m

Pay Difference For Part-time
Dec 13, 2011
