Somehow, I think we should be getting paid for the time we are waiting between jobs, especially since the wait isn't fitting into the 15-minute wait period. - Of course, waiting put under work availability.

I picked up some swap board hours today.

I figure the needed hours are coverage for people on vacation.

You can put in hours yourself that you want to take off with the hope someone would pick the time, but I have never had faith that enough people check the swap board. Plus, I work rather undesirable hours, 2nd shift.

Would be a little bit of sweet karma for those who lost their jobs due to having no work.

Now we have so much, we are swimming in OT. I just have to wonder how many they actually got rid of.

If you are "swimming in OT" wouldn't it make sense to send that work over to those who don't have any? We haven't had OT in months and we always had OT, especially on the weekends.

Nope in the east. Was told by TSM no additional work has gone overseas..just not as much coming in plus them saying we are working faster..not that we are benefiting from being faster. We've lost work from the EHRs too. Still think it would make more sense to send that work to others who need it then to give some OT.

No work for 6 months, had all the excuses, but the best one was that no work was going overseas, just we were so much faster. Then, they fired a buch of people and suddenly we have hughe amounts of work. Ride it out for 6 months and see if the next round of firings brings you in some work.

It is a federal law that anyone required to be available but doesn't have work is to be paid for their time. I'm just realizing that MM is apparently not paying anyone else for time less than 15 minutes in between reports and this is going to be an issue. I am lucky to get in 4 hours out of 8 with probably 2 or 3 of those hours less than 15 minutes. "If employees must be on-call elsewhere, you must pay them for those hours over which they have little or no control and which they cannot use for their own enjoyment or benefit. If you place significant restrictions on an employee who is on call, that employee should be paid. There are few hard and fast rules in this area -- but generally, the more constraints you put on an employee, the more likely it is that he or she should be paid."

I know there are so many on here who are fed up with Medquist. But, can anyone tell me if there is any shift or days that work is usually available? Overnight shift? Evenings? I have 2 friends who work for MQ and they are not out of jobs when they work. (well, that's what they tell me). They said it actually just depends on the account. Ok, I'm not as fast as I used to be and the doctors keep giving names of physicians that are not on their list and are spelled different ways so I take the time to look them up because blanks are not a thing I like to leave on a report. Today we get an email that we can no longer work off the clock which for me is a problem. Do you take the time to look things up like that or what do you do to get past the OCD of trying not to leave a blank? I feel like MQ is chasing ...

I noticed when I took a day off without pay, at the end of the pay period, the PTO earned shown in UltriPro was only 4.14 hours instead of 4.62. I always thought that you could carry over PTO under 40 hours into the new year but someone was telling me today that they did away with that policy or are doing away with that policy and that you will loose everything now and start fresh with PTO.... Hello. I've got something I've been wondering about. I know that when saying something like "There is a 2-hour window ..." I should hyphenate 2-hour. What about when the word is plural? I thought "IC" meant you worked the hours that met YOUR needs. You're already taking a hit on benefits and taxes, so it would seem that schedule flexibility would be the only reason to opt for IC status. I applied for a job that was IC with hours of "any time."
