Was fine over the weekend, but found myself all morning typing for less familiar facilities and wading through a technical procedure from a doctor who doesn't remotely speak the English language, and once again I could hardly see to type for the tears. I just don't think a job should make you suicidal every work day.

I know when I was in school, I had to not only spell the drugs, but I had to pronounce them and give the usual dosage.

Why are docs not held to the same standard? I get paid what???

but I would not begin to imagine that someone who has not done a lot of cardiology and technical reports would be able to do this doc. I did struggle through him and was soooo glad when my shift was over. Like the poster above, I would NOT report a fellow MQer because of breaking. I may not like it, but it is not my place to report anyone. They are also right, the moderators of this site have been known to put you on probation from posting for such comments as "I know your name and who you are.. ." There is no way you could know this, so even though you are upset by getting these broken/abandoned reports just try your best, tears and all. I have a much better conscious knowing I was not the reason someone was called on the carpet and written up because of sour grapes me. Prayers for all of us. This weekend was horrid dictator wise. Yep, the tears were flowing. Forget my line count, I make min wage anyway, and that is working as fast and hard as I can.

I've noticed with VR, there's only 1 rate - supposedly we can do ANY dictator TWICE AS FAST with VR! We should be getting phenomenal line counts! But it's not true - and the limiting factor is not our skill as transcriptionists, the limiting factor is the "skill" of the dictator and/or the "skill" of the speech recognition software. In those instances (and there are A LOT of them, if people are making so little money with VR!), we need a higher PAY RATE for VR editing.

That's right, VR pay should RANGE between, say, 3.5 cents up to 7 cents a line - which would restore a lot of the pay cut we took, transitioning to VR.

This MT Week, I'm Taking A Union Break - what's that you say? You sit back, and think about what YOU would consider a fair pay range for VR work. Realize that with a union negotiating a contract, Fair Pay For VR could be one of the items under negotiation - it could also be a rallying cry at a demonstration. Or a logo on a cofee cup! That's what I'll be doing on my breaks, during MT Week. Give it a try!

I was doing pretty good with my line count for the week, hoping to make a decent bonus tier for this last week before the new pay plan rolls out. I am nervous but breathing a sigh of relief!!! After countless applications, I was offered and accepted a secretarial job in a local school. Less hours, but at least I know what I am getting paid weekly! I will have the same days off as my children. I have only been there for about 6 weeks, but the payroll lady seems to get the checks out lightning fast. However, I realize the 15th is happening in the middle of the week, so payday might not be until Monday. With the dictator from hell, 16 PGN in a row, and everybody sitting there waiting for somebody else to do him - the catch this time is that somewhere along the line in the last 2 weeks of getting stuck with these every single night is that I learned to understand him!
