I haven't been on here for about 2 years, that was when M*Modal fired me saying they were doing away with all part timers. Just one of many BOLD FACED LIES. I do want to say it took me a while to get use to not having the paycheck, but not long to realize how overstressed I had become by sitting at the computer just waiting for work and then when I got it being paranoid that I might do something wrong. I finally got pissed and just started doing the best I could and saying the hell with it. I swear to you they bugged me less when I wasn't as careful and didn't ask for help. That wasn't good either because I swear we are all perfectionists and it drived me insane to leave a blank.

Needless to say since I am older and on disability I was unable to find another job. I was down to only being able to work 15 hours a week and no one wants to put training into someone working those few hours. Therefore I have adjusted my spending and am doing okay, not great, but getting by and I am thankful.

I got on here just to see what was still going on. Guess What? The posts are the same as they were two years ago. Seems like nothing has changed except my fellow transcriptionists seem to have a shorter fuse and as a whole be unhappy. We use to be such a fun group. Now everyone is grumpy, unhappy, and broke. I hope you who have plenty of years left in the workforce find another line of work and start your training. Every time I sit in a doctors office while they hunt and peck their office notes I think of how it use to be. Or a scopist who is now the commander of our medical records and not a "real" doctor. Can you imagine the errors? We saw first hand how many errors there are because we were the ones that fixed them.

I am sure I made some errors in grammar, punctuation, and whatever, but I am retired now - give me a break.

I do want to encourage all of you to not give a damn about those slave drivers you find yourself working for. The errors going through on VR (without editors) are ridiculous and if you don't stress over every little letter - guess what - expectations have gotten so low that no one will notice. If you don't point them out, they won't notice them. Goof off, be a brat, don't care what they think, guess what - I had even quit reading their threatening e-mails and no one even noticed!! GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK. Get yourself laid off. You will get at least 6 months unemployment. A nice little break. You'll be okay.

They are hiring PT MTs again. I know of a couple of them, but they still hate working for MM.

That is how I got too. I just couldn't perform any longer and I was so tired of the brow beating, I figured, what the heck, milk this for as long as I can and look for something else; which I did. Took me about six months and in that time, just did what I could and literally ignored everything else.

When I quit, I quit, right then and there and have never looked back. I am still an MT with a decent company, so you shouldn't give up; try to find something else or work for a call center. There are other options.

I think now they are in dire straights about having enough MTs, especially with all of this MOT. I hope they get what they deserve and that is the death of this company, but I know that won't happen, because like Nuance, they are into software and could care less about people; just using the MTS until they can get rid of them.

Who else gets annoyed when you get an overnight e-mail from a team lead or manager stating there is a high backlog on your primary, say maybe 300 reports, and within 2 hours it's down to wiped out? I swear, these so-called intelligent doctors have no common sense at all. Let's see how much noise we can have in the backgroun and talk as fast as we possibly can to see if the transcriptionist can get my dictaion right. There are some things that don't make sense to me in regard to certain rules for companies. At my company, when you send something to QA, you have to put a blank and the number where it is, but if we think something "sounds" like something we cannot put that in because the QA person could hear what we are hearing and not really hear what is being said.
