It seems so laughable, in a way...I'm sure it was in no way funny for those involved, but what really was the point? They laid off what seemed like 100 people nationwide at the most, and then never stopped hiring. I really can't figure out what they were trying to do.

Probably those making higher rates. Replaced - with lower.

It seemed so random. Some had been here a long time, some had not, all different tiers. Seemed like they pulled the names out of a hat. I bet those people could come on back if they wanted to (hah-hah).

As one of the laid off (Aug 2013)...I was told - by my CCM

that MM was laying off ALL part-timers, which was a lie, because I then found out plenty of other PTers were not laid off. It's like they think we never talk to each other.
Anyway, I was making 9.5 cents a line a the time AND I live in CA (which they hate--they had to pay me OT if I worked over 8 hours in a DAY, not week)--in other words, CA has employee-friendly labor laws, and that they don't like! So I'm convinced they were both trying to weed out higher paid MTs AND ones from certain states where they didn't like the labor laws. Well, I am happy to say I got a much better job elsewhere....so much less stress. And of course first I made them pay out a year's worth of unemployment so I could take my time and find a REAL job. MM SUCKS !

quit before they may have gotten around to it. They did the lay offs in waves, not all at once. I was actually planning on quitting too but then I got HAPPILY got laid off--so I got to find a new job AND got unemployment. When I got the call that I was getting laid off, my CCM was so apologetic but I could hardly contain my glee. Hope you found a better job, too. Which wouldn't be too difficult.

I am actually retired now and loving it - anon

I was laid off today too. I have been with the company for 8 years. I consistently make my quota by a long shot, at over 375 lph. I had my audit a month ago at 99.3%. Well, it's official. I just got the call that I am officially laid off! I am glad that what I knew was inevitable has finally happened so I can move forward, but at the same time can't help grieving over the loss of what once was a career that I loved and was good at. I have this hint that normally helps me: “lie, lay, lain” (to recline); “lay, laid, laid” (to place or put down). The sentence is: "The patient was brought into the endoscopy suite and 'laid' in the left decubitus position." I was thinking it should be lain, but the patient was technically "put" in that position, so it should be laid. Correct? I've gone and confused myself. ...

You actually looked forward to getting the PA instead of the doctor because they were so much easier to hear, understand, etc., except for the fact that most of them have no clue when it comes to pronouncing medications and feel that it is above them to spell the medication out. In my case it seems that the roles have flipped nowadays, I absolutely hate seeing the PA coming up and would rather do the doctor any day of the week!! ...
