Remember when – you were proud to be an MT – proud of the work you did and the physicians said thank you when you did a good job? How about the bumper sticker years ago from AHDI (AAMT) that they handed out at one of the conferences that read – MDs need MTs. After 35 years in this profession, I call it quits. All of us really just need a "thank you" from time to time to feel appreciated.
I have worked at hospitals, doctor offices and owned my own MT business and always felt appreciated. The physicians called me by my name and at Christmas remembered to include me with either a gift or bonus. What happened to the good ole’ days? Guess everything has now gone to India and the quality of the work is just not as important as it used to be. I really miss those days. What are the newer physicians thinking when they read these reports? Did this profession die with the old-timers?
I always take pride in any job I do but I will now demand to read all of my medical records prior to going to surgery or having any treatment from now on. From what I have seen on some of the notes now – this could mean life or death. I encourage everyone to review their medical records prior to undergoing any procedure in the future. Guess working at MickyDees or WalMart is not so bad after all. Too bad – MedQuist used to be a great place to work and had very high standards when it came to quality. All I see at MQ are games, contests and incentives that really mean nothing when it comes to doing a good quality job for the patient - who is the number one priority. Houston - we have a problem here..... over and out.
