Please help - confused about eligibility for unemployment - Kiki

So, in CA we are eligible for UP to 4 hours per day of NJA pay. Big deal, there are so many hoops/restrictions that it is very difficult to get. And I'm FT so even if I did get paid up to 4 hours per day, that's still only half of what I could make. So, assuming this only happens, say, twice per week, am I even eligible for partial unemployment....since the next day or two or three I actually DO get full time hours? It's so confusing but meanwhile I'm getting closer to losing my car, not being able to pay my bills, etc. Thank god I could never afford to buy a house anyway living in CA.

I'm trying to find a better job but I am so stressed and find even with NJA not much time to do that as we are expected to practically sit right there at the computer and wait for more jobs to come in.

Has anyone in CA applied for partial employment? Can you do it on an "as needed" basis?

I'm sure you CAN'T get it if your pay plummets because they DO give you work, cesspool, crappy accounts that you are lucky to make minimum wage on. They sure know what they are doing to get rid of us and not have to pay unemployment, that's for sure But I won't go down w/o a fight.

I am not in California. I wish I could help you. In my state, I have been contacting a person about unemployment and filing for TAA. They want the paper stating I am officially not working for MQ.

They do know, by the way, that Medquist is a horrible company and they are not sure how they are getting away with some of the practices they are doing t their employees. They have been looking into it though to see what they can do on their end and will keep me posted.

Sorry you are having to go through with this situation. I only get 3.00 a day each day I am out of work. Gee, my car is paid off, but I might have to live in it while the CEOs and COOs get what? Anywhere from 250,000 to 500,000 a year plus bonuses. REALLY? And they treat us like *%$#&^. This is what I get for working for this company for 22 years? SUCKS BIG TIME!

When you file you are eligible for a certain weekly amount based upon your prior quarter's earnings. Say you are elibible for $300 per week. If you work on Monday and make $100 you have to list that on the form you send in under Monday for that week's wages. Tues and Wed you make nothing and Thursday you make $40, Friday, Sat and Sunday you make nothing. So you report on your form $100 earned on Monday and $40 earned on Thursday. They will subtract that $140 from your $300 weekly allowance and you will get a check for $160 for that week. Hope that makes sense.

Yet another reason why they keep cutting our wages. - The owners/CEOs of MQ belong in JAIL, IMO. nm

no but 2 months ago did not pass the 98%, and OMG because our checks have dropped so much from last year, I only got $1600 a month.

And to be honest with you when you break it down that is more money considering all the overtime/stress and all that I had to deal with.

Certainly nothing new to be confused over QA, but this one is really confusing me. Perhaps I missed the memo. I had mL changed to cc by QA. Yes, dictator stated cc, but I surely do remember being told to use mL instead so why was it changed to cc....not sure. The other change was 12 mm changed to 12-mm. OK I get NJA, change Schedule Source to work availability, then I get a job 10 minutes into it, now what? I know I don't get paid for 10 minutes of NJA/work availability. Clock out and back in under production? Will I get in trouble for the 10 minutes of work availability? Then if I get NJA again, clock back out of production and back into work availability and SEE if it goes the full 15 minutes??????????? I need a tutorial on this I guess. Any suggestion ...

You have to punch out of production to change to "work availability" and I was under the impression you can't type while in "work availability" so you have to clock out and back in under "production" if you get a job during that 15 minute wait period. I just took an online test and I found it rather easy and they said I didn't pass and then suggested more training. WTH??!! I have over 20 years experience and maintain a 99% QA. Would you take an insurance transcription job at WorldWide Transcription that pays .06 per line, has lots of work, and offers a M-F schedule. The only con I can find is that they mail paper checks, instead of direct deposit. Or would you take a transcription job with Integrity HD. I am just venting!!! Somewhere along the line I guess I misunderstood the whole concept behind VR. I have a real hard time understanding why a bunch of words, many that don't make any sense or even sound like what is dictated, in no type of formatting constitutes a report; VR dictation that needs to be restructured and pretty much retyped but yet I get paid less and required to do it faster than a real "typed" report. Does BayScribe only count the total time you're actually 'in' reports as the time that's weighed against your server time? In other words, when you're logged into Bayscribe's main menu and not actually transcribing a report, those minutes aren't being added in, are they? I hope I'm not confusing you guys! OK....just to be sure I understand this.....if I am an IC, do I deduct approximately 15% (like what my previous employer deducted for SS and Medicare) OR do I deduct 30% for my part and employer part? I am confused about the fact that someone stated that the pay period would end Friday for Nuance. At least that is what I thought I understood them to say. I was reading the ad posted by Synernet and thought it sounded quite decent, what with benefits and incentive plan, etc., then I noticed their ad has 4 "dislikes."
