Really Really confused - MT2020

I read on this forum that Keystrokes pays well.....I was offered a position with them doing Radiology and they only wanted to pay me $1.00 per report. That is crappy!!!! Is this what KS MTs consider good? If so, your being short changed. I was so excited when I got that email, then I read further.....sad!

Being a medical transcriptionist used to mean making good money. Seventeen years ago I was paid 13.5 a line. In the last 2 years my income has been reduced 1/3 thanks to VR. But I still feel fortunate to be able to work from home and save a lot of money by doing so, i.e., clothes, gas, lunches, etc. Have eliminated all extras including credit cards, TV, cell phone. We are all making less money and complaining isn't going to change that.

I also was given all the details and I stopped "DEAD IN MY TRACKS" when that was the pay quoted. Are they for real!!!! I was making $1.00 a report in 2001...just can't do it!!! If any of you can, then good luck to you. I could not live on those wages!!!!

VR always pays less than regular transcribing. This is more than other MTSO companies. - Hate VR

Rates are too low to make a living in transcription now, no matter what company. Time to find a new career, just not sure what to do after doing MT for 28 years. **sigh**

last I was told is $0.95/report. So, Keystrokes is a better deal, relatively speaking.....

Almost everything is paid by the line - if the studies are mainly x-rays and not ultrasounds, MRIs, CTs OR if the docs use alot of normals with not much actual content transcribing... 1.00 per report is good depending on the circumstances of the work - did you both to ask before saying no? Sometimes you have to dig a little deeper.

on per report rad accounts I never made less then 1.35, no more than 1.50. - depending on company, none being KS

I am paid by the line now, but before I was paid per report, almost a buck fifty. So to me, a doller, is not great at all. And to the other poster who suggested maybe we should have asked if it was mostly normals or short reports, yes, I probably should have, but I still don't see how going backwards in pay is going to be of benefit to me in the long run. The next employer, God forbid I need to find another one, will only look at my last pay amount, now what the employer before that paid me. You know? So I guess its all how you perceive it. Thanks for letting me share!

I wish I was paid by the line. I get many reports that have been 10 minutes long (dictated) and even longer to type. Paid by the line is the only fair way to go.

OK I get NJA, change Schedule Source to work availability, then I get a job 10 minutes into it, now what? I know I don't get paid for 10 minutes of NJA/work availability. Clock out and back in under production? Will I get in trouble for the 10 minutes of work availability? Then if I get NJA again, clock back out of production and back into work availability and SEE if it goes the full 15 minutes??????????? I need a tutorial on this I guess. Any suggestion ...

You have to punch out of production to change to "work availability" and I was under the impression you can't type while in "work availability" so you have to clock out and back in under "production" if you get a job during that 15 minute wait period. I just took an online test and I found it rather easy and they said I didn't pass and then suggested more training. WTH??!! I have over 20 years experience and maintain a 99% QA. Would you take an insurance transcription job at WorldWide Transcription that pays .06 per line, has lots of work, and offers a M-F schedule. The only con I can find is that they mail paper checks, instead of direct deposit. Or would you take a transcription job with Integrity HD. I am just venting!!! Somewhere along the line I guess I misunderstood the whole concept behind VR. I have a real hard time understanding why a bunch of words, many that don't make any sense or even sound like what is dictated, in no type of formatting constitutes a report; VR dictation that needs to be restructured and pretty much retyped but yet I get paid less and required to do it faster than a real "typed" report. Does BayScribe only count the total time you're actually 'in' reports as the time that's weighed against your server time? In other words, when you're logged into Bayscribe's main menu and not actually transcribing a report, those minutes aren't being added in, are they? I hope I'm not confusing you guys! OK....just to be sure I understand this.....if I am an IC, do I deduct approximately 15% (like what my previous employer deducted for SS and Medicare) OR do I deduct 30% for my part and employer part? I am confused about the fact that someone stated that the pay period would end Friday for Nuance. At least that is what I thought I understood them to say. I just had a pay period end last Friday, so why is there another pay period ending this Friday (normally every 2 weeks)? I was reading the ad posted by Synernet and thought it sounded quite decent, what with benefits and incentive plan, etc., then I noticed their ad has 4 "dislikes."
