You have to punch out of production to change to "work availability" and I was under the impression you can't type while in "work availability" so you have to clock out and back in under "production" if you get a job during that 15 minute wait period. I am in agreement that it is ridiculous, but if I think the whole day is going to be slow I just want to wait the required 15 minutes and be RELEASED for the rest of my shift, however, it is so confusing if you get a job and are punching in and out and in and out (makes me want a hamburger for some reason -- if you have In and Out burgers near you, you understand!)

I was told to by CCM to allocate the 15 minutes to work availability but that is impossible because after 15 minutes has passed, you have to sign out, then the Teamwork program says you are overlapping and that you have already added hours to this timeframe. You don't know you are going to have 15 minutes straight of NJA, so you have to add it afterwards. I always have CCM add it, but she says "be sure to allocate it." Confusing!

So, after 14 minutes a job popped up, after that job, no work again. Do I have to wait another full 15 minutes? I punched out of SS, but stayed on the log on screen where it says NJA, time last checked... Then when the job came in, I punched back in SS, did the job, punched back out of SS.

Will I just have to wait the 1 minute now, or another full 15?

So, I punch in at 8 am and get no jobs, wait 10 minutes, 1 job pops up, nothing again, wait another 10 minutes, 1 job pops up, nothing again, wait 14 minutes, another job, nothing again, finally a 16 minute block of nothing. Now, I only get paid the whole dollar something for the final block of time but the other two 10 minute stints I get nothing? And how do I change from production to work avail. without punching in and out? Also, when I tried to change to work avail. after punching out, it says my time overlaps even though they are not.

This whole thing is crazy.

Here is what I do: Every time I get an NJA screen I punch out. I stay logged into DocQscribe and set my alarm for 15 minutes. Then I go and throw in a load of laundry or whatever and come back. If jobs have come through then I punch back in and keep working. If not then I send off a Qcare ticket and my ccm adds work ability to my timecard and pays me minimum wage for those 15 minutes. Yeah, my time card has a lot of punches, but it is accurate and there is no way I would penalize my benefit rate by being logged in and not working. We are allowed a 10% variance between the amount of time logged in team work and the time logged into docqscribe which over a whole week is something like 4 hours. So to answer your question- No you do not get paid for those 10 minute stints so why in the world would you stay logged in?

I agree it is crazy but the only way to win is to play the game in your favor. Your benefit rate is calculated on the time you work and the lines you produce during the time you are punched in to team work, not DocQscribe. You are only hurting yourself and your benefit rate and helping Medquist win by being logged in with NJA and not producing. Your CCM will add in the 15 minutes anyway so there is no need to adjust the timecard or make things so they don't overlap. Just punch out when you have no work and punch back when you do.

OK I get NJA, change Schedule Source to work availability, then I get a job 10 minutes into it, now what? I know I don't get paid for 10 minutes of NJA/work availability. Clock out and back in under production? Will I get in trouble for the 10 minutes of work availability? Would you take an insurance transcription job at WorldWide Transcription that pays .06 per line, has lots of work, and offers a M-F schedule. The only con I can find is that they mail paper checks, instead of direct deposit. Or would you take a transcription job with Integrity HD. I am just venting!!! Somewhere along the line I guess I misunderstood the whole concept behind VR. I have a real hard time understanding why a bunch of words, many that don't make any sense or even sound like what is dictated, in no type of formatting constitutes a report; VR dictation that needs to be restructured and pretty much retyped but yet I get paid less and required to do it faster than a real "typed" report. Does BayScribe only count the total time you're actually 'in' reports as the time that's weighed against your server time? In other words, when you're logged into Bayscribe's main menu and not actually transcribing a report, those minutes aren't being added in, are they? I hope I'm not confusing you guys! OK....just to be sure I understand this.....if I am an IC, do I deduct approximately 15% (like what my previous employer deducted for SS and Medicare) OR do I deduct 30% for my part and employer part?
