I just took an online test and I found it rather easy and they said I didn't pass and then suggested more training. WTH??!! I have over 20 years experience and maintain a 99% QA. There is no way I didn't pass that. I could see if I thought it was hard but I even double checked my answers even if I knew they were right. Anyone else ever have this happen?

just a come-on for an MT "school." Maybe they're hoping a lot of inexperienced MTs will apply and they can talk some of them into signing up for more "training." It might be that there is no job at all. Experienced MTs like you will find the outcome puzzling, but newbies might believe them and sign up.

I actually copied the test in Word after I took it because I had heard this had happened to others. Then, when it said I failed I looked everything up, and guess what none wrong! I then called the employer and sent them the copy of my test and they passed me. I would call the employer and let them know you think you DID PASS! If you didn't copy the test before sending it, ask if you can take it again and copy it into a Word document so you have proof. If it says you failed again, send the employer the test. I think every so often it kicks somebody out as a general rule, whether you actually passed or not! In my opinion, it is a scam for Career Steps to get more people to take their program. Just sayin.....

Thanks. I might just do that. It was quite a blow when most of it was just common MT knowledge. Especially when I double checked nearly every answer just from being paranoid.

I had the very same thing happen to me yesterday. One of the preliminary screening questions asked what my expected line rate was. I answered 8.5 cpl. I believe that answer was what "flunked" me with this test. It was suggested I seek out further MT training. What a load of crap!

That makes a lot of sense when you think about it. I said 0.09 cpl. Probably anything over 0.07 cpl got "flunked". Thanks!

that it should flunk you right then and there and not let you proceed to the test? Why waste our time letting us test if that is the case. These companies drive me batty.

Evidently the answer you give to a question for what we expect to be a fair CPL will fail you on a "testing" situation if you don't enter perhaps 6 CPL!!!! Disgusting.

I took two of their tests last week. The darn thing just doesn't work correctly. I flunked both tests which is absolutely absurd. I talked to the recruiter and she told me it failed to give me one of the jobs it was supposed to and marked it all wrong. She offered to let me go back in and completed the missed job. Fortunately, I had already decided to go back to my prior employee. That test site is a joke.

I flunked it, too, and it was for a well-recognized MT company, and yes, it was mttest. Something is funny there. I do know people who took it before and after me who passed, though, so I was confused. I KNOW I did not flunk, because it was easier than any transcription I got at my MT job, where I get 98-100% audit scores.

People are going to come here and say that we're sour grapes because we just don't know what we're doing with transcription, but something is funny, I'm telling you. I used to teach MT, I have mentored "newbies" at companies-- and done QA work for years, with high scores. SO...

I don't think you're sour grapes at all. I think there is something seriously wrong here, and not with the MTs. I think they are being manipulated into accepting lower wages. I hope none of you fall for it. The MTSOs who are doing this should be ashamed of themselves.

Happened to me twice with 35+ years experience. Failed twice, passed twice on the same **** test!!!! I transcribe, I listen and I type. Been doing since we were working on selectrics. Why do we have to do that multiple choice nonsense anyway.....I am going to refuse to take any more of those MTTEST! Then they want to send us to school!!!! What a crock...

OK I get NJA, change Schedule Source to work availability, then I get a job 10 minutes into it, now what? I know I don't get paid for 10 minutes of NJA/work availability. Clock out and back in under production? Will I get in trouble for the 10 minutes of work availability? Then if I get NJA again, clock back out of production and back into work availability and SEE if it goes the full 15 minutes??????????? I need a tutorial on this I guess. Any suggestion ...

You have to punch out of production to change to "work availability" and I was under the impression you can't type while in "work availability" so you have to clock out and back in under "production" if you get a job during that 15 minute wait period. Would you take an insurance transcription job at WorldWide Transcription that pays .06 per line, has lots of work, and offers a M-F schedule. The only con I can find is that they mail paper checks, instead of direct deposit. Or would you take a transcription job with Integrity HD. I am just venting!!! Somewhere along the line I guess I misunderstood the whole concept behind VR. I have a real hard time understanding why a bunch of words, many that don't make any sense or even sound like what is dictated, in no type of formatting constitutes a report; VR dictation that needs to be restructured and pretty much retyped but yet I get paid less and required to do it faster than a real "typed" report. Does BayScribe only count the total time you're actually 'in' reports as the time that's weighed against your server time? In other words, when you're logged into Bayscribe's main menu and not actually transcribing a report, those minutes aren't being added in, are they? I hope I'm not confusing you guys! OK....just to be sure I understand this.....if I am an IC, do I deduct approximately 15% (like what my previous employer deducted for SS and Medicare) OR do I deduct 30% for my part and employer part? I am confused about the fact that someone stated that the pay period would end Friday for Nuance. At least that is what I thought I understood them to say. I just had a pay period end last Friday, so why is there another pay period ending this Friday (normally every 2 weeks)? I was reading the ad posted by Synernet and thought it sounded quite decent, what with benefits and incentive plan, etc., then I noticed their ad has 4 "dislikes."
