An interesting little calculator. I just used a random email and such to get my results, but based on a 100-bed hospital over the course of a year, MM estimates that in-house transcription costs will range $200K and MM can save that same facility an estimated 51% by outsourcing services domestically or 59% globally. Interesting...

are they going through the hassle, the problems with the language barrier and very inferior work, etc., not to mention screwing Americans out of jobs and risking patient identity theft by sending their personal info overseas?! Now I'm really baffled if there's only an 8% difference.

I agree that 8% can be a substantial number, considering the cash flows these health systems that outsource are dealing with. At the same time, I'd like to see how much their liability increases with outsourcing services, especially globally.

Plus I heard on the news the USA has THE highest corporate tax rate in the WORLD..soo you need to figure that in as well

The outsource tax break stems from the fact that business expenses are tax deductible, but there is no cut-and-dried tax break solely for outsourcing.

depends on where your friends are within our government..but as a whole our corporate tax rate is through the roof

Offshoring should be banned outright. If not, then - offshoring companies should be heavily taxed. nm

For no other reason other then I would like my PERSONAL INFORMATION to stay within the United States, where it is easier to enforce laws such as HIPPA and Identity theft. But then again, our tax returns are done overseas also..Whats the problem? Dont we have enough people in this country to fill these jobs..Last I checked the U/E rate is above 7% and food stamps are at an all time high...Cut the Bennies and people WILL work before they starve..Proven FACT!!!

Can anyone tell me how closely affiliated DSG and MedQuist are, and if DSG outsources to India? We all know MQ outsources, but I'm having trouble getting information. Currently, I have a FT job w/a very large hospital, actually multiple hospitals combined. We all once worked in the office; however, they sent us all home to work. I've been an MT for over 20 years and am seriously considering switching my focus to coding. I believe that I would be a good fit and am excited about starting a new career in the not-too-distant future.
