Just found out the hospital I work for, along with the rest of the hospitals in the group nationwide, is outsourcing everything to Nuance. Does anyone besides a troll have anything good to say about Nuance? And what is this "grid" thing--quality incentives no matter how fast/slow you transcribe? If you don't want their benefits, do you get more cpl?
You have my sympathy. My job was outsourced to them about 8 months ago. Here is what I did. I knew I did not want to work for any company that sends work overseas. Nuance had offered to pay us the hourly rate we were making with the hospital for 2 pay periods. That seems to be a common thing for them to do, so I accepted that offer for 2 reasons. A)Great pay for another 4 weeks and B)Learn their Escription platform and a little about editing because that's the way things seem to be in this business these days. In the meantime, I had that 4 weeks to research other companies and make a decision on what to do. Lots of MTSOs use some version of the Escription platform, so that came in very handy. Just be aware that for the most part, you will learn to do most of this on your own as there is an appalling lack of postiive communication in that company, i.e. you have a question, but no one will answer you.
In short, USE THEM while you can, then hightail it out of there. Frankly, I did not even give them a 2 week notice because I knew I'd never want to work for them again. I've never done that before and I hope I never feel like it is necessary to do that again. I wish you the best of luck finding something, MT or anything else, that suits you. Don't forget to check with your current hospital to see if you can transfer to some other department.
