This is my end.  I have received back to back ESL horrible doctors that slowing down only obliterate more.   They absolutely know NOTHING in how to pronounce the simplest drug names, and have butchered it beyond control.  All from the same hospital from the south.  Now oncology notes and are whizzing past the difficult chemo meds so fast it is virtually impossible for ANYONE even Indians to decipher this garbage.  This on top of a major error MQ has made concerning something personal to me and affecting my paycheck.   I have totally zoned out already from my severe brittle diabetes and kidney condition.  The crying is nonstop.   When I say I cannot, simply cannot go anywhere else for a job I mean it.   If they fire me can I get unemployment?  It is not my fault, really.  

Suits and supervisors, do u care at all that we are human beings here living on and not receiving social services at all because we have been good Americans and pay taxes, therefore not eligible for any help.  

I can't stand it, I really am hurting....

I believe if they fire you, you can collect unemployment. I hope you have a lot of e-mails and check stubs to prove lower pay.

The suits and supervisors dont care. They certainly don't care about the tax payers otherwise we would still have jobs here in the US.

Hang in there. I had that happen and I wrote immediately to my CCM about it. That way CCM has it on file and you will have it on file in case you ever to need to use this email as to why your line count is down or just could not work for that day. It is not whining, but showing true facts why line count was down.

Hope this helps by knowing you are not alone. In am in the same boat with you.

is that once you quit or are fired you no longer have access to your Medquist email. Fortunately, I told UE this and they asked MQ to release my email and my employment records. I was able to collect but it would have been easier if I had thought to copy my important emails. Another piece of advice is if you do call your super about something important or she calls you, follow up with an email and make a copy.

I'd just like to say that during some e-mail exchanges with my CCM, who I have found to be a caring, generally competent and good manager (and have liked her quite a lot) -- it was pointed out to me that I had a high QA submission rate last month. I "rturned" that that had been the period since I lost my accounts of over 8 years to "a template" and had taken on all new work, mostly from ESL's.
THE RESPONSE I GOT WAS THAT THE HOSPITALS EXPECT THE DIFFICULT DICTATOR'S REPORTS TO CONTAIN BLANKS, AND IN MANY CASES THEY CAN'T FILL THEM IN EITHER, SO IT IS UP TO THE HOSPITASL TO GET THE DICTATORS TO DICTATE BETTER.

This is 'A NEW ONE ON ME' -- to state it in the vernacular. FOR YEARS, I have been listening to this "line" from a number of my managers, the head of QA, etc., etc., etc. "UNFORTUNATELY, THERE'S NOT MUCH WE CAN DO TO FORCE DOCTORS TO CHANGE THEIR DICTATION HABITS. "THEY WILL NOT CHANGE." "YOU KNOW HE ISN'T GOING TO CHANGE." "YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW, IT IS NOT GOING TO CHANGE, THEY ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE, ETC. ETC. ETC." "REALLY, THE DOCTOR CAN DO ANYTHING HE WANTS."

Uh --- BUT NOW, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME -- WITH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BEAUTIFUL, WONDERFUL, AND WAY-IT-SHOULD-BE FIRST TIME RIGHT PROGRAM "....SO IT IS UP TO THE HOSPITASL TO GET THE DICTATORS TO DICTATE BETTER."

Who wants to be, where the rubber hits the road, the MT/ME is still going to get lambasted, scolded, and suffer a number of threats both veiled and unveiled ......when the hospitals start freaking out because they are getting a lot of blanks.

And I am not kidding you when I tell you that somehow or another, I don't know by what mechanism, QA was able to get or make or invent or impose "some sense" on things that I absolutely could not untangle from a MAJOR MUMBLE, OVERLAPPING VERBIAGE, OR GROSS MISPRONUNCIATIONS. I was told various things by various QA at different times, to explain this. I was told, for example, that because they don't type the whole report -- they go right to the problem point, they are able to focus all their attention on that point.

BUT I THINK I MIGHT ALSO REMEMBER HEARING THAT QA WAS ABLE TO LISTEN TO THE ORIGINAL, FIRST-GENERATION RECORDING, RATHER THAN A FURTHER-REMOVED SOUND COPY. I don't know if this is true or not, but I have asked my CCM about half-a-dozen times without getting an answer.

So according to the NEW INTERPRETATION of who is responsible for the fact that the doctors' dictation is incomprehensible --- IT WOULD NOW BE THE HOSPITAL. IT IS NOW UP TO THE HOSPITAL TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Um, Er, Duh --- I wonder how "blatantly" the hospitals have been informed of this "institutional change" which will grossly affect the product they receive? I suppose they save some processing fees when QA is not employed. And they are going to get documents that look like the product of a "Swiss-Cheese Factory." And then -- in the longrun -- we'll probably all get fired anyway!!!!

I have been close. Lots of tears and feeling I had no control over my situation. Called my doctor but he was gone for the day. Gave me time to think that I would not let MQ end my life as I know it. I would not "lose it" over them.

I don't know what we all will do financially. And no, they don't care. They rationalize everything.

Sadly, this is starting to happen throughout American industry. It really is very sad.

Please don't let them send you over the brink. Don't know all the laws but seems like you should get unemployment and some kind of help based on your disabilities. It could be the best thing that happens to you in the long run.

Reach out to family and friends, let them know you need support. You definitely won't get it from MQ. They have an agenda.

We all here care though. Repeat after my, "I am mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." Then just start reaching out.

And know many of us are hurting, we feel your pain.

Companies getting away with things, treating employees like crap and then Unions were formed. While Unions were formed, then new laws came into play from the government on how to treat their employees better.

Now, we are going backwards and going right back to the way it used to be on how to treat employees badly. The "AT-WILL" does not help and makes it worse for us when most of signed it back at the end of 2005. Most companies are now AT-WILL employees.

I heard most employees who need to wear uniforms now have to pay for it out of their pocket and cannot get free food like they used to working in fast food places. America is going completely backwards.

I'm sorry to hear about you plight and just as sorry that I'm a newbie in a field that has so much anger, frustration and resentment of a field that was once considered professional. I'm trying not to get discouraged, but the future appears to be as bright as I had hoped. The number of views for job openings scares me as a newbie, knowing they want experience.

DQS is driving me crazy today.  When I push the pedal, it takes a couple seconds to start playing.  If I let off the pedal, it keeps going for a couple seconds and I can't get it to stop.  The typing I am doing does not keep up with my finger speed either, with words not showing up until after I've typed them. I use my own computer and have never encountered this issue before.  It is a major hindrance though, slowing me down. What's next? ...
