No word when the West will go on lockdown? I am NOT - Kiki

looking forward to that at all. If they could ensure there would be enough work during your ENTIRE shift I would have NO problem with it. But what are we supposed to do when we get NJA. Right now, my CCM just says to keep checking back throughout the day, which I do, and then I can almost always get my hours in that way.

Can anyone already on lockdown, FT, getting NJA shed some light on how they make up the time and if it is even possible?

Claim shifts to make up time... Which, I know, is not going to be as easy as it seems.

Lets say that you were out of work for 1-1/2 hours of your shift. Almost always the shifts are listed in 1 hour increments... therefore, you have to work an extra half hour if you claim a 2-hour shift. Now, if there is no overtime approved, your in trouble.

Also, lets say you can only work another 1/2 hour today, and there is only a 1 hour shift listed... OH WELL, take it or leave it.

Supposedly it is too hard for the supervisors to post shifts in the 1/2 hour!

This who thing is going to backfire on the MT, and the only one to benefit is the CCM for not having to answer e-mails about no work.

Two hours into my shift yesterday ran into NJA so I know the panic you are expressing. First of all, you are allowed to punch in 15 minutes early for each shift and work stops uploading to you when your shift is over. So technically for a straight 8 hour shift you could get 8.5 or more depending on how long those last jobs take you. I was mighty worried about making up time, but our CCM posted over 200 hour shifts each day on the swap board (not including what other MTs post) which remember for each shift you claim you also can punch in early and work longer (not guaranteeing there is work during those shifts- that is a whole other post!) I am FT and I was able to claim shifts, the only time the system said no was before I had started my first shift because I was scheduled for 40, but once it realized that I was short for the day/week it let me pick up shifts. Hope this info helps.

Okay, I finally applied but haven't been hired yet. Can someone please explain what the heck is a "lockdown?" I've seen the term on this board and I've never heard it before. My group is not in lockdown yet. I have been dreading it. It seems like chaos and this was making me want to quit. Although, these last 2 weeks, I have been on the other side where people have been jumping on and taking my work. Just found out that some MT's are supposed to work 12-24 hours a week and instead, they have been putting in anywhere from 28-48 hours in ONE week. Lockdown for us started last week and sometimes I can punch in earlier than 15 minutes and jobs keep downloading after my shift and other days I get the error message to contact my CCM. Also last week there were 200+ shifts posted on the swap board to pick up and this week around 25 a day. We also go from NJA to many late jobs in the matter of a day with no consistency. We just got an email letting us know how terrible our TAT has been for the past week. Um, we are on lockdown! For over 6 weeks now the West Branch of M-Modal has had low work or no work and everyone is scrambling to get in what hours they need, is there anyone out there who has the true skinny on whether these jobs are being sent out to India, or what the HECK is going on? The patient is in a s/l *total shell* with a headrest secondary to West Nile virus, some neuromotor dysfunction, but no acute changes. CCM notes the Western power outage yesterday (approximately 5 hours) is not covered by paid down time. However, East Coast outage later in the day was a system problem and would be covered by down time. HUH ? So for power outages we either make up time or use PTO. Can this possibly be legal ?????? ...
