It makes no sense to ask us if we have work or not... if this were me, the second I had NJA, I would be on the phone and wouldnt stop calling till someone got me work.

Not just for my *accounts* but the entire western half of the United States. Something is very wrong ... for the ENTIRE western region - half the country - to have so few reports is very, very odd. In order to get work, we would have to be added to the Eastern region.

Those working in the eastern region might not have work for very long, if the western region employees don't get some work soon.

I am PT and have only a couple of hours in for the entire pay period. My mgr usually sends out a list of how many jobs for each hospital but I can't even remember the last time I got one! I'm a couple hours into my shift, checking every few minutes and nothing!! The butterlies in my stomach are starting to make me feel nauseous. This is extremely unusual for a Friday afternoon.

There has been absolutely no work in the west this week. I have no idea what's going on but I'm sure the story they would tell us is "no one is dictating because it's Superbowl week."

I'm getting nervous too. I might understand a hospital grouping or a few facilities being out of work but an entire half of the country?

I can see a WHOLE LOT of western workers getting switched over to the east since they've been griping non stop about the Overtime, and we're sitting here with absolutely no work at all. Not a lot of western employees are going to be able to endure the NJA for very much longer - myself included.

and hope for work tomorrow. I'm not making anything checking for work so why bother at this point. I'd rather make myself productive in other ways and not make money. I just feel like I'm going to "get in trouble" if I just walk away. It's sort of a trapped feeling.

Oh no, you won't get in trouble. If you have no work you're allowed to log off after 6 minutes of NJA. You just have to fill out a Remedy ticket (choose the "out of work" option for "reason for ticket"). You'll have to decide if you want to try and make it up on another day or take PTO. Since tomorrow is the last day of the pay period it's kind of hard to make up a lot of hours before then (plus, what if there's no work tomorrow either?) so I request PTO for the hours I'm missing. But, eventually I'm going to run out of PTO if this keeps up.

It's a company policy to wait at least 6 minutes with NJA before logging off, but as long as you meet that requirement and fill out a Remedy ticket you're free and clear to log off for the day.

handle this situation. I do not have a lot of free time to make up work and I do not have PTO. Oh well. Another day of not making any money from this company.

I'm full time for the insurance and all about the PTO when I need/want the day off. I do earn more when I'm working than with PTO so I'm losing valuable income that I need to support my kids, by being out of work this way. If I didn't have PTO I would go under. I'm sorry you're in this situation ... it's not ideal for any of us but not having the PTO option would make it a thousand times worse.

no work/OOW during your scheduled shift. They cannot make you continuously log in/out, in/out, ad nauseum... without paying you at least minimum wage ... That's the law. MTSOs can like it or lump it, but that's the law.

When you do ask them, you'll find that they won't ever give you a straight answer, though, not in writing, anyway. Whatever they answer, they know that they'll be up against the wall. Try it.

She says we are expected to make the time up but if we can't to use PTO or excused-no work. I do not have PTO anymore and I refuse to babysit computer 24/7 without compensation. I do have the protocol for OOW situation in writing, about 10 of them and they are all different. I asked what everyone else does here just to see how others handle this.

Well, I am out of work.  A LOT of MT's have been getting on in the evenings and cleaning out my primary and secondary.  NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE until recently.  Hmmm.  Makes me now want to start popping on and work in the mornings.  After all, I wanted to work days (not evenings) to begin with, but was forced to work evenings or look for another job.  I really need to go back to school and do something else!!!  Looks like this company started changing a lot ...

past 6 years.  This week am told mandatory to change a week day to weekend hours and still running out of work with email stating "can make up time on a specific weekend day" (saturday).  Now am I one of the lucky ones they keep cutting off (NJA) SO AS to force working on weekend time slots (if you want to make up time which is your pay) which the CCM feels is the weak spots on the weekend.  YET, they are hiring constantly and have not hired anyone for weekends.  Am I the onl ...

looking forward to that at all.  If they could ensure there would be enough work during your ENTIRE shift I would have NO problem with it.  But what are we supposed to do when we get NJA.  Right now, my CCM just says to keep checking back throughout the day, which I do, and then I can almost always get my hours in that way.  Can anyone already on lockdown, FT, getting NJA shed some light on how they make up the time and if it is even possible?  ...

For over 6 weeks now the West Branch of M-Modal has had low work or no work and everyone is scrambling to get in what hours they need, is there anyone out there who has the true skinny on whether these jobs are being sent out to India, or what the HECK is going on?  The supervisor keeps telling everyone that it is just low work, I have a hard time buying that after this long.  I need to move on...... ...

The patient is in a s/l *total shell* with a headrest secondary to West Nile virus, some neuromotor dysfunction, but no acute changes. This is mentioned in the HEENT exam on a discharge, not the reason the pt was admitted so have nothing else to go by and no other notes mention anything. He is just mumbling his way through this whole thing (new PA) and I cannot quite get what he is meaning, the "t" sound and "shell" are the only clear sounding parts, and googling with West Nile virus and h ...


Power Outage Out West - No Pay For Down Time !

CCM notes the Western power outage yesterday (approximately 5 hours) is not covered by paid down time.  However, East Coast outage later in the day was a system problem and would be covered by down time.  HUH ?  So for power outages we either make up time or use PTO.  Can this possibly be legal ?????? ...

I have a question.  I'm in the SE region where the CTL quit effective immediately last week.  Is our supervisor gone, too?  She never is good about communication, but I sent her an e-mail 2-1/2 weeks ago which is still unanswered and there has been no communication of any kind for about 3 weeks.  Shouldn't there have been a communication about our CTL leaving?  Nothing is completed in Schedule Source, etc. ...

I am covering for an ENT doc (I do rheum & ortho) so am totally clueless here! Doc says:  Fiberoptic endoscopy shows some residual pale edema to the right _____ region. s/l pla-bia, pla-via, cla-via - The more I listen the more I keep changing the beginning sound.  The end is very clearly "ee-ah" just not sure of the V or the B. ...
