Companies that don't bait and switch.... - Any left?

So disillusioned. The company I loved for so long has turned into greedy liars. Who in the MTSO world is still decent?

What company is this and what did they do to you? Over the years, only Spheris has done this to me. The recruiter promised me everything and then I didn't get any of what I asked for. Luckily I hadn't quit my previous job.

Just to butt in on this thread, I started working for Spheris in 2004 and they did the same to me, promised me things that never occurred. I had the world's worst supervisor as well. They kept adding accounts to my primary. I ended up with 8 accounts and couldn't get my line count up. Since I couldn't pay my bills, I quit after 4 months...

The supervisors at Spheris are like mother hens.
My supervisor let one MT stay on the account for a year whose work was riddled with errors and did not leave until the hospital requested he be taken the account. When we tried to inform her of his shotty performance (ending up in a report already typed by this MT and seeing 2 templates of a normal report in place rather than 1 for instance), she considered us to be "jealous" because he had the highest count and told us so lol. Well, it went down hill from there. She liked the MT and defended the person right up until the day I was told the account left for VR 4 years later and there were no other rad jobs ~for me~ with Spheris.
If anyone needs great rad MT, who rarely misses work, is a team player (never cherrypicks), has QA scores above 98%, please email me. I am about to lose my home.

I had a couple of bad supervisors there too. Worked there 6 years and had about 10. Back in late 2002 one took away my shift differential (I worked 2nd) saying they had a doctor's note saying I could only work days. I didn't know what they were talking about and they couldn't produce the note. They said the computer showed I was working all these weird hours when I had documented proof I was miles away from my computer at the time. They finally did give back my differential but lost a lot of $$. The last thing this supervisor did before she left was make me part time in 2003 without telling me. I filed for partial unemployment and got it. They challenged it but lost. I also had one sweetheart of a supervisor and hope she is doing well.

It's been a couple years now. It made the top of my list as all time bad companies. Everything I asked the recruiter, she agreed to. With my 20 years experience, I was so happy that a company was listening to me. Once my training was up, I was put on an all discharge summary account (which I specifically told her I did NOT want). It was probably 90% ESL. I don't mind ESL but not 90%. There was absolutely no flexibility (the other thing I asked for). The QA was inconsistent.
When I talked to my supervisor and told her what the recruiter had told me, my supervisor went back to the recruiter, who denied everything (big surprise)! I stayed 1 month, quit without notice and have never looked back. Best thing I ever did for myself.
There were other things I did not like about the company, like renting the equipment, bad pay, etc. I probably never should have started in the first place but I was getting desparate.

They provide you all the equipment, but you have to put down a $300 security deposit. They deduct it out of your check at $50 every 2 weeks.

Most companies don't even supply the equipment anymore. Would folks rather shell out $1,000 for your own system?

Or at least it was when I left. They were moving all accounts over to that platform. I could handle the transcription part of it, but the speech rec portion was just too difficult for me. May not be for others who have experience in that area, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around the speech rec thing.

I actually worked at Spheris for about 5 years. I was originally a Healthscriber; a company that I loved working for. Spheris was really great for a long time....until, they switched us over to the Clarity Cornerstone VR platform. I don't know if it was just me, the fact that I was just so old school and used to transcribing that wouldn't let me do well with VR, or if was the platform itself. I just wanted to say that if they hadn't changed that platform, I'd probably still be there.

Yes, I think it's their platform, Clarity Cornerstone, that is hard to work with. But I think the dictators are hard too. Is the Cornerstone platform only for the S&W account or for other accounts?

I worked for Spheris for nine years and LOVED it until...out of the blue one day they said my account was going VR, didn't need us anymore and so, I took on a new account, new platform just to be told, after two weeks of "training" that they had lost that account and that they had no other radiology accounts and so I was "laid-off". Just like that. I went through too many to count supervisors in my nine years and the best one I had, they fired - never heard a good reason for that either. Guess thats what happens when good companies go bad!

I am sweating this out, as everyone else has, and it is not working for me. Something to consider before you invest in training. Not saying don't do it, just be aware that you're not guaranteed a job when you graduate.

I have always transcribed either from a C-phone, tapes, or worked for a national that had their own dictation platform. My local account wants to switch from tapes to something similar to Emdat and wants my advice. He has very little dictation and just needs something that he can dictate from any phone, where I can access it from home. Lately I have not been able to stay on the same account more than 2 days in a row. Just bought Flip USB with audio KVM switch in order to be able to have 1 dedicated computer for work only and the other computer for unrelated work items. Have never used one of these before and just wondering if you were in your work program on 1, if you switch over to the other computer for say checking email, does the work computer shut down?
